“Modern but very tight squeeze”
Reviewed 17 March 2012

We stayed at Autoline Motel last week, we were down in Queenstown for a 4 night stay and we wanted an inexpensive accommodation choice. The motel itself is very modern inside and out. We were given an upgrade to the two bedroom unit which was appreciated as we did have four adults (two couples) staying.

The rooms are modern and very clean for your arrival, however the bathroom basins were so small it was hard to even wash your hands in. This is mainly because of the restricted space in the rooms, also when entering the bathroom its a very tight squeeze between the door and the wall to get to the toilet.

As we had two couples staying we requested two double beds, on arrival there was only one double and the other room had two singles, which were very very small and narrow, hard for almost anyone to sleep on.

There are signs around the room instructing guests what not to do which i believe is unnecessary, maybe this should just be mentioned at check in....

Overall the stay was good, small in size and minor touches could be done to make it that little bit better.

Tip: The car parking is very very tight, almost impossible so i would suggest staying at a different motel if you have a car,

Room Tip: Ask for an end room, room 7 has a spacious living area with large balcony....

We enjoyed our stay at Autoline - the room we were given had lake views which was very nice. The Manageress and staff were very friendly.
During our 4 day stay, we noticed that when the suite was serviced, the toilet & bathroom was not cleaned at all during our stay. They would breeze in, empty the rubbish and supply fresh linen. I would have thought that the ensuite would have been cleaned on day 2 of our stay at least. If I had of been staying any longer than the 4 days, I would have asked that the ensuite be cleaned. Other than that, the suite was good value for money.

Room Tip: Ask for a suite on the top floor for the lake views.

Stayed at Autoline for two nights and thoroughly enjoyed. The manager was very helpful and accommodating, unit clean and tidy and highly recommend the room with the balcony overlooking the lake.

Had a very good experience with Autoline Motel. We travelled with family members who had arrived from overseas and the Autoline was a perfect choice for us as we didn't want to spend a fortune on the accommodation -Queenstown can be pricey if you want to stay near the town centre but not in a backpackers. The motel is less than 10 minutes by foot from downtown Queenstown, comfortably close but away from the bustle. The motel is clean, modern and very well equipped. We stayed in a unit with 2 rooms (both rooms had a bathroom of their own), with a queen bed in the living room and single beds in the bedroom, and the configuration worked well for 4 adults even though the rooms are not massive. I particularly liked the fact that the Autoline has double glazing and heat pumps in every room (not the standard in NZ) as the weather turned quite bad towards the end of our stay. Double glazing also blocks out any traffic noise, so although the motel is close to a major road, there was no noise problem. The kitchen is well equipped for basic cooking, and the downtown restaurants are only a short stroll away. The only negative aspect is that the motel doesn't have that much parking space, but luckily during our stay we were able to find a space every time. Overall a very good price/quality ratio for Queenstown.

Room Tip: The motel offers units with different configurations. All suites face towards the road and the lake...
