“Why pay more?”
Reviewed 29 October 2011

Centrally situated, well ish, with views of the lake in this beautiful setting, this hotel has clean rooms, of a good size, and is favourably priced versus its competitors in the area. My room was en suite, with balcony, large bed and yo couldn't ask for more for the price.

Good location few mins walk from edge of town, friendly staff. Our room 428 was very 1960's apart from painting white over the wall paper and putting in an LCD and new bed nothing would have been done with the room since construction. the stairs exit from room was very confusing as no fire exit signs visible from stairs so people were accidentally going down 2 or 3 floors to the basement instead of one floor down to the exit. If there is ever a fire it could be very dangerous, when we got around the corner we noticed that the fire exit signs aren't lit, just a plastic sign.

Thank you for your comments after your recent stay.

We have done just a little more to the rooms than stated - for example all new joinery to the windows including double glazing with hush glass to help combat exterior noise, all new drapes, carpets where required as well as the flatscreens and new beds. Unfortunately time did not allow to complete the bathrooms but these are on the agenda.

I have had a good look at the exit signage and agree that directional signage would be a good idea to more clearly point out the exit if you happen to miss the very obvious door that leads to the carpark area - I am arranging this now so thanks for that.

I have also checked the emergency exit sign and can confirm that this is backlit as required - it is also linked to the back up power supply which keeps the sign illuminated if the main power supply is affected.

Rest assured that even if guests did continue down to the lower levels there are two fire escapes, both clearly marked, so there is no danger to life whatsoever. The building complies with all legal requirements and has a current building certificate.

Stayed here in the dead of winter for 3 nights. Had a room in the main building facing the snow covered mountains. Great view!
The motel lobby, bar and restaurant were all very modern whilst the rooms are slightly older but not lacking in anything by any means. The heating was fine and the hot chocolate sachets were a nice touch to come back to at night.
Staff were very friendly and always helpful. Oscar Aline the resident cat was also a very interesting touch. He was a very patted cat!
The breakfast buffet was an acceptable standard for the price with a great view of the mountains. Never got to experience dinner but menu looked a little pricey.
The only downfall in winter is that the hotel is on quite a steep hill which in snow is very tricky to get up and down.
All in all it was a great place to stay and had that bit of personal charm that you don't get in the big chain hotels.

Stayed for just one night but would stay again, rooms were spacious and I had a balcony with a view of the city and the mountains.
5 mins walk to the city centre.
Didn't use the spa or restaurant but this place looks like it has the lot.
Not the most luxurious pace to stay in ZQN but good value and location.
