“Lovely hosts, charming BnB - the best family accommodation in Queenstown”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 April 2012

We stayed three nights in April as a family with our 10 year old child at this lovely BnB.

This is the perfect BnB for families as the kids get to run around the green garden, feed the animals (sheep, goats, alpacas), get the eggs in the morning and have a walk with the lamb.
Our daughter could not wait to get up early enough.

The BnB is about 20 min. drive away from the centre of Queenstown (direction Arrowtown) which was NO extra effort or hassle at all. In Arrowtown which is only 5 min. drive away are lovely restaurants where you can go for lunch and dinner.

We enjoyed the beautiful green view during the day (we watched the paragliders landing opposite the BnB). The atmosphere is so peaceful and the BnB is setup so lovely
that we had our best night rest followed by the excellent breakfast made by Pam.

This BnB is as well great for travel groups as there are several rooms available which can be ideally combined with the tours provided by David.

Pam and David were such caring, warm-hearted, helpful and fun hosts!
They provided us plenty helpful and great tips such as restaurant recommendations, driving directions and David even made the bookings for us (e.g. tour for Milford)!

Pam and David really treated us like family members and we indeed felt like home.

Their great hospitality and family-friendly setup with the garden and all the animals make this BnB a "must-accommodation" in Queenstown.

We stayed for 4 nights with our little toddler. We all loved it! Our toddler loved the sheep and the chickens. He also had an abundance of new toys to play with. The location is great with easy access to Arrowtown and Queenstown.
Pam and David were brilliant! They really made us feel at home, almost more like we were family rather than guests.
They came to rescue us when we lost our car keys and helped in many ways to give us a lovely stay.
Highly recommended!

The bed is extremely comfortable! The shower is the best power shower I've had!

My partner and I stayed at Willowbydowns for 3 nights in January. We felt like we were staying at an Aunt and Uncle's home, who were just taking care of us for a few days (of course, until it was time to pay!). Overall, we did enjoy our stay in Willowbydowns but if heading to Queenstown again, we would choose to stay in Queenstown itself.

Hospitality : Pam is an exceptional host. Pam geniunely wants you to get the most of your time in Queenstown and will spend time with you to organise (make calls, check weather) or plan an itinerary. She also kindly called up the local pharmacist for medical advice when I was sick.

Great breakfasts: Pam offers poached eggs, toast, a range of cereals, yoghurt and fresh fruit. Yum, healthy and will definitely keep you going for a few hours.

Family feel: During the 3 days, the house had family members popping in and out, children playing and running around. When we came home, we would chat about what we had been up to and Pam would tell us stories about her family. Plus, as it is a BnB, you obvoiusly sleep in a room just upstairs, in an attached extension of the main house. Not ideal for those who may want a more private, secluded accommodation option.

The room: Very clean, comfy, small TV and private bathroom. Perfect!

Property / Location: The most memorable aspect of our stay at Willowbydowns was the farm. The property is home to nearly 100 sheep & lambs, two alpacas and many chickens. it's a beautiful property and you do get an amazing view of the mountains from the front of the property and also upstairs in the room.

The downside of staying in Arrowtown is the distance from Queenstown. Arrowtown is about 15 minutes away, so it did burn up quite a bit of petrol driving in and out every day. There are shops and restaurants in Arrowtown, but Queenstown has much more to do and see - definitely better to eat out in Queenstown. Then again, you do get to live on a farm and away from the noise and action...so depends what you're looking for.

If you want to stay somewhere out of the hustle and bustle of Queenstown and want to stay in a house with a friendly couple keen to chat to after a day of fun and activities, this is a great place to stay. Thank you Pam and David, it was a pleasure getting to know you and your family.

The home is beautiful, views from our bedroom window breathtaking. But nothing in comparison to the hospitality of our hosts Pam and David. I'm pretty sure that we were staying with our long lost aunt and uncle that loved to spoil us, not at a B&B. Can't wait to go back and visit. :)

Pam and David were wonderfully welcoming! We were there for the finals of the World Rugby 2011 and learned a lot about the game as we watched the competition with them.
