Many people told us how good this cruise was but it was better than we even thought. A taxi picked us up at 7am at the Hilton Queenstown and took us to the bus. Our driver was Barry and his coach number 19. A two hour drive to Te Anau was relaxing and we stopped to shop and browse before continuing. The drive to Milford sound took about 2.5 hours as we stopped a few times such as the Mirror lakes to take photos. Arriving at Milford Sound we soon boarded our boat, the Milford Mariner which was roomy and offered great viewing. We had good commentary on board and the food offerings quite good. On a rainy day toasted panini with chicken and mayo went down well. Even the coffee was a good standard. So many waterfalls and high snow covered peaks to view, it is a photographer's dream. We did see some porpoises breeching the surface and seals sleeping on a rock and even baby penguins on the beach. Everything went so well this day and we were returned safely to our hotel by 8pm but so happy. Definately recommend this to all nature lovers.

We booked our tour through an agent in Queenstown. Our driver and guide was Ngaire. At first we thought her humour was a bit sharp but we quickly realised she is awesome and knows exactly what she’s doing. My friend and I both agree that Ngaire’s knowledge of the area, history, wildlife and everything inbetween was second to none. We almost hired a car to do this ourselves but the drive would’ve been long and difficult and we wouldn’t of learnt what we did! Ngaire spoke about so much from the discovery of New Zealand, how the Maori used to and still do things and about the pests that are Aussie possums haha. We felt extremely safe on her bus and learnt so much about the history and culture of New Zealand. Even with a full bus we managed to make scenic stops and Ngaire pointed out every beautiful, significant and interesting sight and answered any questions people had. We also really enjoyed the cruise at Milford Sound, we travelled on the big Real Journeys boat and loved it. Yes it was a big boat but there was so much room to move around, the boat was very stable and we thoroughly enjoyed the trip. We also saw seals and dolphins which was amazing. Ngaire is an absolute credit to Go Orange and I would highly recommend booking a trip to Milford Sound with Ngaire and Go Orange.

This should be a ‘Must Do’ on your list of Things to do and see in South Island.
A great bus journey, despite the weathers best attempts. Milford Sound is stunning.
The boat is big, warm with free hot drinks.
A wonderful day.

We took the scenic cruise and bus from Te Anau. Beautiful bus ride and the cruise was really nice. Boat was in excellent shape and the Indian lunch box served was delicious too. Highly recommended.
