“Otago Peninsula Hideaway”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 February 2011

My partner & I book-ended our South Island adventure from here. Within a short drive to Dunedin this place afforded the best of both worlds in City access and a quite hideaway for our holiday. The local village provided a few options for evening dining after an afternoon in the City or exploring the peninsula. Mary and Pat were amazing and most gracious hosts! Let me say Mary takes pride in here breakfast - and she delivers a yummy feast!

If you're looking for modern comfort ( and I mean the 5 star treatment ! ) but want to be just around the corner from the penguins and albatross then this is the place to be. The house is set in the most beautiful garden, very quiet and yet very convenient for everything the Otago Peninsula has to offer. The breakfasts are to die for and will keep you going for the rest of the day. Your hosts Mary and Pat are very friendly and hospitable and will gladly give you a helping hand to organise your day. There are some good restaurants close by or you can look after yourself ( the rooms include a mini kitchen ) This B & B is a must if you're looking for that personal touch. My wife and I spent christmas eve at McAuley Glen. We had a fantastic BBQ in a beautiful garden. Later on we enjoyed the great jacuzzi in the garden. In the morning we were served the most phenomenal breakfast you can imagine. The hosts were intersting, helpful with bookings and nice to talk to. We really enjoyed our time there.

What a great place, set in their amazing garden away from busy Duneden, we had a fantastic time there, the rooms were excellent, Mary's food was exceptional, never had such delicious breakfast. the delightful gardens were very relaxing.
Pat & Mary were very Helpful hosts with vast local knowledge, they gave us plenty to do & see during our stay. Pat was kind enough to take us out sea kayaking which was brilliant.

Mary & Patrick are a very welcoming couple and quickly made us feel very much at home.
The Ambrosia suite in which we stayed was very comfortable. The surrounding garden is an absolute delight. The breakfasts are a feast and one needs to come to the table famished.
