The Brothers Boutique Hotel

We arrived in time to have a glass of wine with our welcoming host, Rod. Our room, though compact (it was once a monastery after all!), was very comfortable and perfect to enjoy a few days of sightseeing in Dunedin. After a delicious breakfast, Rod recommended places to visit and things to do to make the most of our limited time. The Brothers is also within easy walking distance of most city attractions including some lovely cafes and restaurants. We had internet access provided in the lounge area, off street parking and fantastic views across Dunedin and the bay. This is a special place with an interesting history.

We have stayed at The Brothers a couple of times and thoroughly recommend it to anyone wanting a friendly, warm, welcoming place to stay while in Dunedin. It is close to the shops and restaurants so you do not have to drive, the view is wonderful, and the welcome when you arrive is very friendly.

Loved the atmosphere of this lovely B&B! Rod is an awesome host! What a delight to visit with Rod over a glass of wine or a beer and we were grateful for the inside scoop on sights we otherwise may have missed. Excellent breakfast included as well as free internet...both a REAL plus! Perfect location and impeccably clean. Small room, however, we knew that ahead of time thus we enjoyed a quiet evening in the large lounge. Loved seeing the outdoor kitties! Highly recommend this historic Dunedin B&B accommodation and location.

This was a one night stop whilst touring New Zealand. Very well located and with a top floor room with a huge shared balcony, the views were brilliant. Very nice owner who made us feel very welcome and the breakfast was very good. Free internet access was a bonus for keeping in touch with family back home. Highly recommended.

The hotel is situated in the center of duniden, 5 minutes away from the octagon. Our room was upgraded to a top floor unit which have a fantastic view over the city. Breakfast was basic but sufficient. The host is very friendly! Would certainly recommend this to all!

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Welcome to a special place in Dunedin. Relax in our European style family run Boutique Hotel close to inner city amenities with spectacular views of the City and harbour. Extensive renovations have been done to this former Christian Brothers 1920's stately residence transforming it into elegant heritage accommodation with 15 bedrooms and all with modern tiled en suites. The Brothers offers a mixture of convenience, history, charm, elegance and tranquillity, with the building retaining much of its original grandeur. Unfortunately the Hotel is unsuitable for infants, babies and young children under 16 and can't be accommodated. The Brothers is also quite different from anything else in Dunedin. The intention during the refurbishment was to be sympathetic to the building's history and wherever possible the original character has been retained. As a result most of our rooms are of a size often found in European Cities and maybe considered small by some. If room size is important to you or the prospect of walking 10 minutes uphill from the city centre is a daunting issue then other options maybe more suitable for you . A welcoming drink is offered early evening in the main Guest lounge. Book direct with us for better price and room options. ... more   less
