This memorial is still accessible during the construction to rebuild the city after the earthquake. Some buildings still damaged.

While walking along the river it's worth a stop to read all about the reason for the monument and the other information there.

Very touching place to visit, and only about 200m away is the Wall of Remembrance, on which is mentioned all 185 names of the those lost in the earthquake of 2011.

A pretty little bridge over the Avon river. This bridge remembers the casualties of the World Wars, but in the meantime CHCH has much more to remember, so I would not be surprised if that came to be included in this monument as well.

Great to see this memorial restored and looking fantastic - even better than I remember it growing up.
Covering World War 2 on the city side and earlier wars on the Botanical Gardens side.
Fantastic feature of the city.
