Far enough from the city for those who want some peace and quiet but close enough to be downtown in just a short drive (and on the local bus lines for those with limited transportation -- but quite a walk up a very steep hill from the main road) with fantastic views of Pegasus Bay, this B&B served as a nice base to explore Christchurch and environs. There is only a single unit comprised of a bedroom, bathroom and living area. Breakfast is served upstairs in the main house with great views of the Bay out the window (or if the weather accommodates) from the outside deck. The space in the guest quarters allows for relaxation and the feeling you are not just in a bedroom. Bernie and Denise provide insight into local attractions and dining options (we already had reservations at one of their favorite restaurants). A nice choice if visiting the Christchurch area.

We stayed a total 3 nights with Denise and Bernie and they could not have been more welcoming, making us feel very relaxed and at home from the first moment. They were happy to spend time discussing our itinerary with advice on what to do and see (and what not to, thanks Bernie!) as well as giving us a real insight into how Christchurch has been affected by the recent earthquakes and, especially, how it is recovering with the amazing resilience of the local people. The accommodation is first class, very spacious, clean and well appointed; breakfast was more than enough and the views….well, that is just the icing on the cake. We would most definitely recommend this to anyone and if we are lucky enough to make another trip to NZ, Denise and Bernie will definitely be getting a call from us!

We stayed at the Pegasus Bay for two nights and it was lovely. Spotless clean and Denis and Bernie could not have been more kind to us taking us into ChristChurch explaining the history. I would strongly recommend this B and B to anyone visiting ChristChurch. It is up a steep hill and a car is recommended.

We stayed here on the edge of Christchurch for just 2 nights. This was easily long enough to appreciate how devastating the earthquakes were, how resilient the people of Christchurch are and how important it is for all tourists to New Zealand to drop in to the city and show our support for the citys recovery. We didn't hear a single negative comment and there was a real buzz and vibrancy about the place. All credit to you people of Christchurch.

The B &B was in a good location on the top of hill overlooking Pegasus Bay with easy access to all the restaurants of Sumner. Our hosts Denise and Bernie gave us some suggestions of the best places to eat to suit our taste. They also told us a little about the quakes and the plans to rebuild. They told us the essentials to visit and where to park etc. They also provided a more than adequate breakfast. The bedroom was a really good size and particularly light. There was also a comfortable lounge area with views across Christchurch.

Bernie and Denise also gave us some great tips of places to see on the next onward part of our trip to the Otega peninsular. All these proved to be very useful.

Many Thanks & Good Luck Christchurch, Carol & Phil Rickhuss, UK
