Indian restaurants can be much of a muchness - Planet Spice was a bit different. Most noticably decor was bright, fresh and cheery and wait staff who served us and that we saw serving, weren't Indian.
We received a cheerful welcome which was promising but service was pretty bland after that, though one lady did check in to see how everything was and too ask if we needed anything.
We ordered vegetable navratan, rogan josh and sag wala - all good. The vegetable navratan had a few paneer cubes in it which was a nice surprise but was mild, despite ordering 'hot'. The sag wala was fine apparently but not particularly creamy according to my friend. The lamb rogan josh was enjoyed very much.
Food was served on cheap and cheerful white plates, meals arrived in the typical copper(?) bowls with little handles.
We all loved the garlic naan - heaps of garlic, joyfully buttery but not too oily - perfect. Rice was good too. We had a couple of beers - all up just over $80 which we thought was pretty good.
Had a good range of beers including IPAs, APAs and also wines and cider.
It was a chilly evening. We sat by the door which meant we were cold everytime someone entered the restaurant but, there was a gas heater pumping out warmth positioned above the door which kept us comfortable and warm.
I would eat here again for sure though I'd be really really really clear about wanting 'hot' so this wasn't overlooked next time.
