“Pretty Upmarket & great location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 February 2012

We stayed here two nights and were really pleased with the location of the hotel, close to shops and restaurants and just over the road from the museum. We were in a De Luxe room on floor 8 and would have had gread views of the harbour and out to sea if it had not been so cloudy! The room was comfortable, expecially the bed and the shower was really powerful. The only criticism is that there were only two chairs to sit on and we could not position them to watch TV - but who wants to watch TV when the whole of Wellington is there to see!

Room Tip: The higher up the better the view!

Stayed there while in town to catch up with friends and was upgraded to club suite on 9th floor which was fab. Great location and views with buffet breakfast included - delicious.

Are booked there again in March and again in April so a definite recommend - am sure they will not disappoint.

My only comment is wi-fi very expensive and would not use only we had to for business.

Room Tip: Club suites on 9th floor

If you can afford the suite rooms, especially on the lounge level top floor, I would recommend them. The view, spaciousness, amenities, breakfasts, in-room tea and coffee service were all excellent. These rooms also come with internet at no extra charge. Personnel in the lounge were courteous, efficient and helpful. One problem with the top floor location was noise from the roof. It was very windy for 2-3 days of our stay and this caused some structures on the roof to squeak, rattle, roar and otherwise be annoying.

The service from desk agents at checkout and throughout our 5-day stay was somewhat spotty. At first they said that internet would be an extra charge; then they gave me an access code supposedly good for the entire stay but I had to call the desk each day to get a new access code. Every day they assured me the code would be good for the rest of the stay but it wasn't.

Management were more helpful. When we had an insect problem the first morning of our stay on the 6th floor, he switched us to a suite on the top floor, took care of the details of getting us moved and gave us a bottle of fine wine for the inconvenience.

Room Tip: Get a suite facing the water but don't get the top floor if it is likely to be windy during your...

We stayed at the Amora on an "Escape with your huband" package. Everything was excellent, except for a bit of vehicle noise in the early hours of the morning

This hotel is just ok rooms have been upgraded however the bathrooms have not. Gold tap wear and brown marbel very outdated. The biggest problem with these rooms is the air conditioning it is extremely noisy all night. There were 4 of us stay we all had the same problem
