Perfect family outing - although not cheap. Introductory tour was interesting and informative. Loved the bush walk - especially when the jet boat went past up the river. Plenty of variety of activities for young and old. Souvenirs expensive - same tee shirts at Auckland Zoo shop only $15. Was surprised to find an interactive place like this not having free wifi - surely if you're lucky enough to catch a prawn, you want to be able to tell the world about it!!

This was one time when I was glad to have read some reviews to guide my meal choice. Mt meal was nice but 2 of our 4 diners were disappointed. We decided not to do the tour because the prawn fishing was unavailable and there wasn't much to draw us in. Looks ideally set up for tour buses

I have visited Taupo a number of times in recent years but never made it to the Prawn Park.
Why I have not I cannot now understand.
A small group of us "elderly" types decided to visit it in late October - wow , I am glad we did. We ate in the restaurant - I looked at menu and went from one of my favourites (chowder) to 6 lightly battered prawns - but hey I finished up with a half kilo of superb prawns and enjoyed every one of them.
We did not do the full tour of the prawn farm - would be interesting but another 1/2 kilo of prawns may just have more appeal for me.

Our family had a fun few hours here. The fishing was slooooooow (we only saw one prawn caught the whole time we were here) but the kids loved the pedal boats, feeding the trout, dodging the water on the obstacle course etc The kids would love to go back but the family pass isn't cheap so it is not something we would do on a regular basis.

Came here with the kids (aged 9 &7) and we had a blast.

At $75 for a family pass I wouldn't say it was cheap but there's a surprising amount of activities that are included.

We loved the pedal boats and the trail that included trout feeding and water-based things like the gauntlet and lifting weights. The treasure hunt took them 3 tries to find all the answers.

We had great fun with the prawn fishing, although no luck with catching any. They did tell us before we paid that they weren't biting well, which was nice to be advised.

The resturant was quite pricey but the prawns are excellent. Definitely worth it.

Overall a great day out and would recommend it.

We have done this activity a couple of years ago with kids and friends and absolutely loved it and were keen to to it again. However we were shocked at the increase in price. Perhaps locals get it cheaper/free - for the overseas tourists though i guess it’s an ok price. We did have lunch there as it is a lovely setting and the young lasses serving were delightful with all the customers - especially those with not so good English.
