Our 2-night stay at Rick and Linda's beautiful home on the cliffs above the stunning lake would been great even without their gracious hospitality, but their constant interest in our comfort and enjoyment--along with Rick's fabulous cooking--made our stay perfect.

Room Tip: Even though it doesn't look directly out on the lake the garden view room is very pleasant.

A perfect stay is just what we want to achieve! Thank you for your feedback.

Having owned restaurants for over thirty years Rick now enjoys preparing and planning meals for our guests on a smaller more personalised scale.....he adjusts and designs the daily menu to suit guest preferences and requirements alongside ensuring we use the best of seasonal NZ produce.

And of course....the views are stunning....in all weathers!

Warm regards and thank you

We arrived impolitely early at around noon. Rick met us insisting it was not an issue and immediately sorted out coffee and a tour. Linda then arrived and we sat and planned our time with them and that's how it feels here. You are house guests. You feel cared for. The accommodation defies description as do the views. So it's a bit like having a child - makes no sense describing it. Just experience it! Food is exquisite. Wine is of similar order! Rick is a raconteur to enjoy the company of. Linda could not be a more accommodating hostess. And she has a very nice line in humour too! We have been to some delightful spots on this trip and met wonderful people. This is an experience we both place right up there. If I had to spend my days alternating between the balcony of my room observing the friendly Tui and playing golf at Waikeke - with diversions to the thermal hot pools periodically, I could be a very happy man! My wife was similarly of the view this is a wonderful combination of luxury, privacy and top drawer quality. Our night as the only guests, looking out over the lake with music in the background and a very decent glass of Chardonnay in hand will live not long in the memory but forever in the memory. Thanks you Rick and Linda. It was a privilege. And should Wiltshire ever be on the travel plan you are always welcome. P and L.

A unique design, a unique position and superb service. Acacia Cliffs is high above Lake Taupo, our room, as well as being equipped with everything that could possibly be needed, had a bed facing the view with a glass edged balcony carefully placed not to block that view. Everything else yelled "quality", including the breakfast in the morning. Not the cheapest in town but it sure is value for money

Room Tip: The room with the view (but that is all of them)

Our outstanding hosts, Rick and Linda, attended to every detail to make sure our stay was extraordinary. Meals cooked by chef Rick were truly special and accompanied by excellent wine. Views were breathtaking from our bedroom windows and beds sumptuous. A must visit!

Room Tip: Lower level rooms with lake view - or main floor room.

The expansive views are always the first thing that impress our guests.....the largest freshwater lake in the Southern Hemisphere and the snow capped mountains whose rivers feed into it.

Acacia Cliffs offers a very New Zealand setting....tuis (our native birds) feeding outside your windows on the flax flowers, our resident sheep (or lawnmowers) who graze below the decks, the volcanic mountains and lake....pretty special.

Thank you Rchelm18......we are delighted you enjoyed your stay with us....come again!

Our NZ trip is getting better and better. How we can top this place is unimaginable. After a long, long drive arriving in the suburbs of Taupo we felt slightly nervous - were we going to be spending a couple of nights in some rather unexceptional development? Was it going to be a major disappointment? Have faith, my friends. This place is a true marvel - everything about it speaks of style and good taste. From the moment the ever-smiling and elegant Linda opened the door, we knew that all would not fail to be more than well.

How the place manages to grip the cliff, I haven't the faintest clue, but it's position is unparalleled with wonderful views from everywhere - one feels suspended in air since glass seems to be the main building material and light floods the whole building. The bedroom was deliciously comfortable - great pillows, excellent mattress, wonderful bedding - and the bathroom was equally good. Rick is a terrific and entertaining chef, never short of a story or fact - we came away better educated on matters ranging from the intricacies of the Maori language to the art of constructing an early aero-engine. Both Linda and Rick are consummate hosts. If you're ever within 500 miles of Acacia Cliffs, then flex every muscle and get yourself over there.

Thank you Shellfire....a review to cherish! Rick and I enjoyed meeting you both and hope to be able to welcome you back again some time in the future.

Your positive feed back is much appreciated and is a great start to the new season.

After our five month winter closure we both look forward to reopening and welcoming our new season's guests......we consider ourselves to be very lucky to be able to share the lodge with guests from around the world.

Thanks again and safe travels.
