We stayed in Acacia Cliffs Lodge in early November. Our stay at the lodge was one of the highlights of our trip. Linda greated us and immediately began to take care of our sightseeing needs. Three of us had previous plans to walk the Tongoriro Alpine Crossing. Linda then helped arrange a fishing trip for my husband as well as an awesome evening cruise on the lake for all of us. Linda even prepared us a delightful "box breakfast" to take the morning of our early departure for the walk! We dined in with Rick and Linda after returning from our walk. We ate dinner with 2 other couples and had such a great time!! Rick grilled 2 of the trout my husband caught earlier in the day and then served them as our appetizers. Such a nice surprise and SO GOOD! Rick is an amazing chef, only matched by Linda's superb organizational skills. Dine in with them if you can....the meal easily matched....actually surpassed....most of the meals we had in restaurants. And Rick is quite the conversationalist!!
AND then there is "the view"!!! We had a room overlooking the lake....the entire wall in front of the bed was a window offering one of the most beautiful views of Lake Taupo you could imagine. The view of the lake and the distant mountains was breathtaking during the daytime and maybe even better at night.
One last word of thanks....Linda notifed me a few days after our departure that she had found a ring that I had left in our room She then graciously had it sent to our hotel on the South Island. THANK YOU!!
I HIGHLY recommend a stay in this truly unique lodge. You will not be disappointed.

Room Tip: ask for a room that faces the lake....one with the view.

So lovely to hear from you as I had been concerned that your ring may not have reached you in time....glad it arrived before you left!

Your comments mean a great deal to Rick and I and we appreciate your taking the time to review your stay. You managed to experience many of the special and unique activities this region has to offer....makes our job very easy when asked to help plan our guests' time here.....there is so much to see and do.

Lying in bed and enjoying a fantastic view is one of life's pleasures......that's why we carefully chose this site on which to build Acacia Cliffs.....uninterrupted lake and mountain views!

We enjoyed meeting you all and glad you enjoyed your stay.

Warm Regards and Season's Greetings

Our 2-night stay at Rick and Linda's beautiful home on the cliffs above the stunning lake would been great even without their gracious hospitality, but their constant interest in our comfort and enjoyment--along with Rick's fabulous cooking--made our stay perfect.

Room Tip: Even though it doesn't look directly out on the lake the garden view room is very pleasant.

A perfect stay is just what we want to achieve! Thank you for your feedback.

Having owned restaurants for over thirty years Rick now enjoys preparing and planning meals for our guests on a smaller more personalised scale.....he adjusts and designs the daily menu to suit guest preferences and requirements alongside ensuring we use the best of seasonal NZ produce.

And of course....the views are stunning....in all weathers!

Warm regards and thank you

We arrived impolitely early at around noon. Rick met us insisting it was not an issue and immediately sorted out coffee and a tour. Linda then arrived and we sat and planned our time with them and that's how it feels here. You are house guests. You feel cared for. The accommodation defies description as do the views. So it's a bit like having a child - makes no sense describing it. Just experience it! Food is exquisite. Wine is of similar order! Rick is a raconteur to enjoy the company of. Linda could not be a more accommodating hostess. And she has a very nice line in humour too! We have been to some delightful spots on this trip and met wonderful people. This is an experience we both place right up there. If I had to spend my days alternating between the balcony of my room observing the friendly Tui and playing golf at Waikeke - with diversions to the thermal hot pools periodically, I could be a very happy man! My wife was similarly of the view this is a wonderful combination of luxury, privacy and top drawer quality. Our night as the only guests, looking out over the lake with music in the background and a very decent glass of Chardonnay in hand will live not long in the memory but forever in the memory. Thanks you Rick and Linda. It was a privilege. And should Wiltshire ever be on the travel plan you are always welcome. P and L.

A unique design, a unique position and superb service. Acacia Cliffs is high above Lake Taupo, our room, as well as being equipped with everything that could possibly be needed, had a bed facing the view with a glass edged balcony carefully placed not to block that view. Everything else yelled "quality", including the breakfast in the morning. Not the cheapest in town but it sure is value for money

Room Tip: The room with the view (but that is all of them)

The expansive views are always the first thing that impress our guests.....the largest freshwater lake in the Southern Hemisphere and the snow capped mountains whose rivers feed into it.

Acacia Cliffs offers a very New Zealand setting....tuis (our native birds) feeding outside your windows on the flax flowers, our resident sheep (or lawnmowers) who graze below the decks, the volcanic mountains and lake....pretty special.

Thank you Rchelm18......we are delighted you enjoyed your stay with us....come again!
