Only one minute walk, to get to the waterfalls. Not special and I wouldn’t come by especially just to look at them

It's a short drive and a short walk to see a good display. And it's free! Good photo opportunities when we were there soon after rain.

We walked 5km from the treaty grounds car park!!!! along mangrove boardwalks etc to the Haruru falls.- beautiful. On the way we saw such pretty little birds called fantails - very friendly. We heard a commotion in the trees by the river and saw lots of nests with large black headed cranes in them feeding their young. The walk was more arduous than we expected and we walked back on the pavements by the road on the way back to the car at the treaty grounds.. took half the time.

It’s nice to see. I wouldn’t recommend more than about 15 mins maximum. Watch out for the chickens running loose around the car park area.

It was an easy and short walk to the falls from the carpark. The viewing area has no safety rails, so you could (and people did when we were there) walk right out to the water at the top of the falls.
Overall the falls are fairly impresssive but a bit less impressive when compared to huka falls in Taupo.

Thank Jason C
