Owner description: Skydive Zone Bay of Islands is located in Kerikeri and offers tandem skydiving for your first jump experience. Instruction begins with a short briefing, then you and your instructor share a tandem harness, freefalling from nearly 15,000 feet at speeds of 120 mph (200kph) or more. After about a minute or more of freefall, your instructor will open the dual-sized parachute, and together you'll fly back to the ground for a soft landing.

I traveled with my fhusband and 2 adult children and thought it would be great to skydive as a family - even though my husband is afraid of heights. We were picked up from our accomodation and traveled to the airport. On arrival the reception grunted and didn't make us feel that welcome. The other staff though were excellent and put my husbands fear of heights at ease. We felt the instructors were very professional and and they were very thorough in making sure that we were strapped in and hooked up properly. There wasn't a photographer on duty the day we did our jump but our tandem jumper had the camera on his wrist so photos were able to be taken. The adult children jumped first (we couldn't all go together as the plane was not big enough) we wanted to watch them come down but the office girl (with the purple hair) was very bossy and said "No!!! you have to be suited up ready for your jump". We missed our kids floating back to earth but then had another 20 minutes or more before we jumped. I felt cranky that we missed them and it ended up that there was plenty of time for us to suit up and no need for the bossy attitude (after all it is a holiday fun thing to do!!!) We also asked about leaving our valuables behind the counter and The purple hair grunted again and wasn't happy about accommodating our request. We enjoyed the skydive experience but get rid of th office girl

I am writing a review on the Skydive zone that operates out of Keri Keri, I was given the dive as a present from my work mates and bosses for my 16th birthday. I was pretty excited and scared at the same time. When we arrived at the Skyzone building all was good until a loud voice yelled "Thanks for the BJ!" not once but twice. Along with me was my mother , a friend and there were three other tourists booking in for a skydive as well. There were two staff members at the counter and like myself, mother and friend seemed quite shocked, embarrassed enough for one of the staff to go out and say "Shut the *curse word*Up!".
I was jumping 12000ft so I had to wait until the other three people did their jump first before I went up. While waiting there was one guy who turned out to be the photographer, who I watched and listened to him and realised he was the one who yelled out the "BJ" stuff, my mother was watching him as well and said 'I hope you're not jumping with him he's obnoxious.
Well he came up with me as the photographer and although I absolutely loved the experience of the skydive and I would most definitely do it again, but probably not with this company. I felt disappointed by that guy , he made me feel uncomfortable. I paid $210 on top to get a DVD and Still photos(the dive cost $295) we watched the short DVD and when we requested to see the stills the same guy was impatient and rude, didn't really want us to take their time up looking at pictures and was more interested in going for a swim. When we were leaving I said thanks very much but no acknowledgement from any of the staff
On the whole for me the staff let my first skydive experience down, they are too laid back and need to realise that not everyone enjoys listening to that kind of language especially if you are spending $500 or more for maybe a half hour experience
