“Rustic luxury”
Reviewed 16 January 2014 for a stay in January 2014

What a gem hidden atop of Bluff Hill. Kitty and Peter are new on the block and may not have many reviews yet but don't let that deter you. Any apprehension we may have had was immediately blown away when we stepped into the little cottage impeccably restored by Peter. So many times "rustic" is euphemism for "dilapidated", but not here: reclaimed rimu wood, salvaged and restored pieces of antique furniture and light switches, mixed with plush modern convenience like a 42 inch android tv, free wifi and internet radio made to look like an old-timey radio. Peter is an electrician by trade and the attention to detail definitely showed. How many times have you stayed in a motel room and had to move the bedside table to charge your phone in a poorly placed outlet? Not here-- outlets are galore, complete with a full charging strip next to the tv. It's the little things, but shows you how much thought and love went into this place. And yet, there is a true respect for a vintage aesthetic, down to the kettle and little informative signs here and there.

The property is tucked up on Bluff Hill close to the lookout and a park, so it's very quiet and surrounded by vegetation and birds. It's close to town, but since it is so high up it does require a car to get around. There's a free parking lot just down the road facing the beach if you want to hang around the town center all day.

Kitty delivers the breakfast on a tray every morning to us, all impeccably presented in vintage-looking pieces. and wow what a spread. Fresh home-baked breads, homemade granola, freshly squeezed orange juice, hard boiled eggs, cold meats, cheese spread, fruit, yogurt, jams, some playful sprinkles and Nutella! First B&B where I've had Nutella!! Kitty and Peter are warm welcoming hosts. I would definitely stay here again if back in Napier and do not hesitate to recommend to others.

“This place is a gem!”
Reviewed 14 January 2014 for a stay in October 2013

We really enjoyed our stay at Bluff Hill B&B , and we wish we stayed longer. Kitty and her family were thoughtful and caring hosts. The cottage is in a quiet location with a profusion of flowering plants and birdsong. Inside it is clean and neat and well-maintained. There is a hiking trail nearby, and we walked to the top of the bluff to see the view. In the morning Kitty brought us a delightful selection of breakfast foods and juice. Before we left she gave us maps and told us about the various places to hike in the area.

“A wonderful stay in a 1930's ambiance matching the Art Deco side of Napier”
Reviewed 4 January 2014 for a stay in November 2013

It was a real pleasure to discover this "gem" and the kindness of Kitty & Peter who made sure that we had everything we needed.

This B&B is in a small cottage, separate from the main house and perfect for a couple. Peter has done a great job at finding the hardware that will remind those of us from the "baby boomer" generation of the appliances we were used to when we were kids. Kitty has found the right touch to decorate this room in a way which will make you believe you are back in the 1930's.

This will fit perfectly after you have experienced the Art Deco tour of Napier, where you can admire the structures built after the devastating earthquake of 1931.

Bluff Hill will be your base to discover the Art Deco tour of Napier, the Ganets at Cape Kidnappers, the Wineries all around, the restaurants on the "Quay", the view Te Mata Peak among many others.

We hope that you will enjoy it as much as we did.
