After hearing lots of good things about the Puketapu, we decided to try it for a family birthday dinner. We waited a long time for our drinks order to be taken then for it to arrive. We had the in-house made cob that was supposed to come with olive oil, dukkah and hummus. Halfway through I thought something was missing, checked the menu. There was no front-of-house staff for so long that we carried on and finished the bread and when someone finally arrived we questioned what happened to the hummus? He seemed unsure if there was even meant to be hummus with the dish! Upon checking with the kitchen we were told they'd run out of hummus so just left it off!! I ordered lamb rump, I wasn't asked how I'd like it (as a chef, it is standard to cook a peice of meat to medium-rare if unspecified) and it came barely sealed and I had to ask for a steak knife to cut it. All in all, not a great evening. Front of house was slack and the meals could have been better with slightly more effort. We won't be rushing back.
