After reading the various reports about The flying Burrito Brothers, I was really looking forward to it.
A family group of us visited today, 6 adults and 2 teenagers. The restaurant, Sunday, was busy but not overly so.
Service didn't start well. A waitperson took our drinks order but it was almost 15 minutes before these arrived.... 3 beers, 3 wines and 2 soft drinks. Hardly a complex order, but hardly impressive service.
A pleasant waitperson took our orders and that's when the wheels fell off and deteriorated into my best hates of a poorly organised kitchen.
The orders came out in dribs and drabs. Six of the party finally received their meals and then 2 of us waited...and waited ....and waited. Finally one of the party pointed out that 2 of us were still waiting.
The waitperson she spoke to just looked blank.
Question: if a group of people are eating to the point where they've almost finished their meals and 2 in the party are sitting there looking hopeful, wouldn't this ring some sort of a bell?????? Like....oh!....there's something wrong here, but today this person missed the point completely.
I could see into the kitchen and observed the waitperson in animated discussion with one of the kitchen brigade who hastily went back through the order dockets sitting in front of him.
Finally mine arrived just at edible temperature (had it been sitting somewhere) but the last person in the party still had to twiddle their thumbs and finally ate alone.
To me, if there's a group visits a half decent restaurant worth its salt and the price they charge, they would get this simple aspect of service right.
The food was average and the total experience didn't get a tick of approval from me at all. Slow bar service for a very simple drinks order and a half pied attempt at reasonable table service for a bunch of simple orders just doesn't cut the mustard at all.
Needs a significant improvement.
