4 stars based on price. Perths pretty expensive and the hostels in a fantastic location. You're right around the corner from the royal mint and the waka and there's a bus stop about 3 minutes walk away that will take you to Elizabeth quay in the city or the airport. From airport to accommodation we paid just under $10 for 2 people and it took 25 mins.
I'd rather be a short walk outside of the city centre as you get to see a bit more of the city and how people are living. The neighbourhood feels safe as does the walk from the town centre.
We booked a private double with onsuite. This doesnt include a toilet- just a shower and sink. Given the sliding door in our bedroom was broken the lack of toilet was a blessing. The communal toilets are clean and well maintained. Our room was a decent size with a comfy bed. Unfortunately the Wi-Fi coverage doesn't extend to the back of the property but it works fine in the communal areas.
Given the number of people staying we had a great nights sleep and it's pretty quiet.
The communal kitchens clean and you have your own shelf and refrigerator space with a convenience store next door.
One day our room smelt strongly of sewerage but it didn't for the rest of the week so it might have been an external source.
Staff are friendly and polite. Ask for cutlery and plates on arrival and you'll be allocated some of your own. It's a good system :)
Would happily stay again having stayed for 4 nights

Located just infront of RedCat Carlton bus stop, nearby the Perthmint, one block from bus stop to airport.
Kitchen has everthing you need but plates&cups, no more swimming pool.
Premises is bit old, little gloomy, dust in my private room, need to renovate some rooms.

I stayed there for 3 nights with a friend, our room was clean and perfect for two people. Also the rooms do have AC, but its not working the whole day- only from the evening until the morning- what actually doesnt make sense at all, cause u need it during the day, the nights are not too bad.. but thats the only bad thing I can say..
The manager is really friendly, tries to help you, and tries to make the best for the hostel!!
Its absolutely worth it for the price for one night!
