“Small but cosy room, delicious breakfast”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 April 2012

We live in Perth but took advantage of an Easter special of dinner, overnight accommodation and breakfast (even cheaper than the Tripadvisor special above, so excellent value). Very pleased. Staff were welcoming and efficient. The room was small but cute, very well kept and clean. Our room faced into a void and had frosted glass in the window, so no exterior view, but not a problem for one night. The buffet dinner was good (although drink service a little slow) and the breakfast even better. Best pancakes with berries!!
Got to play 'tourist' in our own city, with a pre-breakfast walk past some of our older buildings, through Supreme Court gardens, down to Barrack Street jetty and the river which is gorgeous early in the morning, but has never really been appreciated by us when we're in the city because we're always too busy!

Room Tip: Basic rooms okay for one night. Perhaps consider upgrading to a larger room if staying for longer.

We chose this purely as a result of Trip Advisor reviews and weren't disappointed. We arrived very early in the morning and went off to explore King's Park whilst they readied the room (which they made available a couple of hours before the scheduled time). The hotel was right in the middle of town but was quiet and friendly. The room was clean and could best be described as functional though not much natural light owing to the adjacent building. There were some rooms at the front which would have had better aspects but we didn't spend much time in it in any event.
The buffet breakfast was top notch and the integral bakery/coffee shop was worth a visit also.
It also had a little roof "garden" where they appeared to be growing their own herbs. No views but it did offer some fresh air. Overall, worth the money and would stay there again.

we have stayed here at least 5 times its a great hotel old fashioned , clean and comfy beds , food is always great we stay for overnight with buffet dinner and breakfast, choice is wonderfull can not falter this ........but my main gripe is every time we have stayed there we have had hardly any sleep the walls are wafer thin so you hear the toilet being flushed , ppl talking also noisy air con units outside bedroom window on one of our stays ........also one room was infront of a lane that lead to a nightclub so 1am -3am ppl shouting ,fighting terrible night that was........ another room we stayed in you could hear an alarm going off it went on for 3 hrs so another bad night
but apart from no sleep possible in this hotel its great if you are hard of hearing or a deep sleeper........i am none of them ............

Room Tip: stayed in 5 couldnt find a good 1 to avoid noise sorry

Stayed twice one separate weekends and both times found the rooms very clean and comfortable, although there was noise from the street below, overall we did not mind.

Room Tip: Try and get a room away from the front street

We arrived at Miss Mauds after the Indian Pacific train journey from Sydney. Although the rooms were not ready, the staff were very helpful and had our luggage securely locked away while we wnt out and explored a bit of Perth and had some lunch. The room was large and airy and we had the feeling that it had been recently renovated. the staff on the front desk were always pleasant and helpful. The breakfast had to be seen to be believed. It was a buffet and huge. Definitely no lunch required. the evening meal was also good (a la carte) but you have to book to get a table - it is so popular.
The hotel is close by the free bus routes and the local bus routes, and within walking distance of most of Perth's attractions (the mint, the mall, the station, King's Park, etc).
We were there on 2 different occasions during our stay in Western Australia and both times were excellent.

Room Tip: Choose a room on the lower levels as the lift is small (two people plus luggage) and slow.
