We stayed here for special occasion for my partner.
I’ve heard various stories about the Duxton , both good and bad but we thought we would give it a try as it suited our needs on the night.
Arrived about 4pm.
No problems checking in, staff freindly. Given discounted breakfast vouchers
Room was larger than most simalar hotels I’ve stayed in.
Room was quiet, bed comfortable.
Nice ammenities supplied.

On the down side the room was tired and dated, taps were the old fashioned style and whilst all worked fine its not the new modern style you’d expect in this caliber of hotel.
Shower was spacious and had door which stopped a mess on the floor but again it was tired and dated.
The carpets were showing signs of wear and tear in the frequented walk ways etc.

Had dinner in the restaurant, food was excellent and service was outstanding,
Breakfast the next morning was buffet style with good choices.

Other than the above comments we enjoyed our stay, no noise issues and room comfortable.
It offered fair value for the price, I paid $175 for the night, which isn’t too bad,
The Parmelia by comparison that night was some $20 less.
I’d stay again and if you want a quiet hotel with a good restaurant attached then you won’t go wrong here.

We recently stayed here for a night due to attending a function in the CBD of Perth. It really is just another anonymous type hotel with nothing particularly special about it. The 80s interior décor throughout is past its best and the whole hotel needs a bit of a revamp. The bar was completely soulless, with the restaurant little better. The rooms are nothing extraordinary, pretty much the same as any other similar star rating chain hotel. These days people are looking for a little extra in a 5star, some character and soul. The Duxton has neither. The views of the river are limited because the windows are very narrow with one very large wall where one might expect a window! The location is a little out of the centre (on the wrong side of Perth) but it's only a 15 minute walk to the more 'happening' end of town. Very convenient to the Concert Hall though and about 10 minute walk to the Convention Centre. Somewhat disappointed with this stay but not surprised.

Recently stayed for 2 nights birthday getaway.
First time stay at the Duxton and I was pleasantly surprised.
We had a Club King Room on one of the top floors with a great view of Perth. The room was clean and spacious for 2 people. All the standard amenities you would expect in a room were there.
Evening drinks and nibbles in the Club Lounge with a view overlooking the Swan River. Special note to the hostess - Tappy. Her knowledge of the wines available was welcomed when trying to decide what to have.
Thanks to the friendly staff on the front desk from when we checked in to check out. The people on the front door. I don't think we physically opened the door ourselves once.
Breakfast in the Firewater Grille though nothing outstanding, just your standard hotel breakfast buffet it was still enjoyable and had all you needed to start the day. Personally I would have liked possibly one or two other than "western" dishes but no complaints otherwise.

All in all it was nice enjoyable, good central location and easy to get to places in the CBD.

We look forward to next stay at the Duxton.

Stayed just one night on a quick conference connected visit. Hotel is in a very convenient location - just a short walk to all the CBD attractions. Room had wonderful views of the Swan River BUT you need to reasonably high (floor nine for me) to get the full impact of the river views. No mini-bar but the lounge bar is really relaxing and inviting space to unwind after the day.

Room tip: River view is wonderful But you need to be high in floor number (nine works)

Advertised as a five star hotel, the carpets in the room are shabby and stained, the plumbing looks as though it is Victorian, the tea/coffee amenities was the most limited in number ever experienced. Thge breakfast buffet was well presented and clean. The concierge was top, but his young repacement was hopeless.
