This was our first visit to CY O'Connor Village Pub,my daughter phoned several days before to book a table but no record of our booking on arrival. Thankfully it was not full so we got a table, the staff were quite quick in taking our order, but the meals arrived several minutes apart. The first two meals arrived then 5 minutes later the second two the last two meal were at least another 10 minutes, which is not really good enough as we would love to enjoy our meals together as a family. I have to say the meals were excellent very tasty and hot so you have redeemed yourselves slightly.

Where to start... My husband and I stumbled upon this venue mid last month while touring down the west coast from Broome. I have honestly never had such a underwhelming experience as this one. The steak was like shoe leather and cold. It was cut into two pieces and put together on the plate and when I complained I could hear the chef ranting, raving and swearing saying "that's f'ing medium to well". It was far from it. Either the steak was old or the chef was drunk. Pass on this one!

Food was fabulous
Staff was average at best.
Girl serving outside was surly and borderline rude.
Ruined what could have been a lovely long lunch
There was 18 in our party - we ate and then left taking our money with us.
A lost opportunity CY O'Connor.

Thank piacb

having lived neapr the venue for sometime, we decided to try out the Sunday lunch with the whole family for the 1st time. there were 3 criteria that was needed, 1 location from home.2 child friendly, 3 other reviews for price = taste.
having been advertised as having a new playground for children, it met the 2nd criteria. location was good too for the whole family. not to far. 3rd was debatable as not many reviews of food.
so we decided to try it.
upon arrival and meeting other family members in the outdoor beer garden, it was a pleasant and well maintained area. other patrons were well casually dressed unlike some you would find in other areas in Perth.
after settling in, we allowed the 2 youngest kids to play in the new play area. although after 3mins of playing, they found it boring as it was a basic play area. suited for toddlers. there were no fence separation or actually play area like what you find in other venues.
the staff was great in constant clearing of empty glass from the table
however the menu, for its pricey tag vs its taste was something that definitely needs to be addressed. the chilli salted squid rings won't be ordered again. it was just plain boring. if you ordered it as a starter with chips. you would get more chips compared to ordering as a main
the steak for the wife was ok. nothing fancy.
the sister in-law rated the ribs but found it hard to find any meat. the burger for the nephew looked tasty and was tasty for him. the kids meal was something you'd dish out at home for a quick snack. the price for the food rather reflected poorly for majority of our order.
the price of alcohol was mid range.
Now what made it a poor venue... as it is located in and near a new area even though CY O'Conner has been there for a very long time, its not in an area that would be considered a "rough" area however, as a 1st timer to the venue.. we experienced or rather witness an episode between 2 separate families. Swearing, shouting and abusive language was heard from all corners of the venue. now this was between families with young kids, exposing their own others and ours which did scare one of our child.
the staff was trying to diffuse the situation and evict the abusive family carefully as they did have a child also. so credit to the staff members by diffusing and respectfully escorting them off the premise
As soon as the area settled back down, 2 musician played and sang beautifully in the corner. something really good that doesn't happen much in other venue.
the Sunday live music playing and the well maintained beer garden made up major for the food, the incident and lack of play area for primary age kids.

if food equals the price is address then it would better be averages venue for families. as for just going out there for a drink and watch sports with a mate its pretty good

An impromptu dinner for 4 on a Wednesday night and the place was very busy, but we were seated without problem. The waitress took our drinks orders and noticed when each of us needed a refill (at different times). We waited a little while for the starter (bread and dips and very enjoyable), which we accepted due it being busy. Both young adults ordered a chicken burger which came with cheese (not indicated on the menu) .. OK for #2 but not for #1 who can't eat cheese .. this was changed without issue. The other orders of squid and beef satay were both enjoyable, although some of the beef cubes were on the rare side. The frozen crinkle cut chips took away a little of the presentation and an extra side order of chips were served in a dish a little bigger than a sugar bowl. 2 desserts and drinks brought the bill to $198 .. a little pricey for a midweek meal.
