Owner description: Nothing you have ever experienced will prepare you for the awe inspiring view of Melbourne from the observation deck of the highest public vantage point in the Southern Hemisphere. Located at Level 88, Eureka Skydeck is Melbourne's new 'must-see' attraction. Skydeck 88 is the only observation deck in the world that can thrill you with the Edge - a glass cube which projects 3 metres out from the building, with you in it!

The Eureka Skydeck should be on most visitors' lists of things to do. Its not cheap (A$40 for a family ticket) but once you are up on the deck you will enjoy superb views from Melbourne's tallest building, Eureka Tower, opened on Southbank in 2006. The Skydeck is on the 88th floor of this tower. The best time to enjoy these views is in the late afternoon and just after nightfall but its always wise to check the weather and news about visibility before any visit.Your young kids and teens may want to pay extra for the Edge experience (a glass cube that sticks out three metres from the top of the building - and whose floor changes from being opaque to clear once it slides fully out) but I'm happy to give it a miss.

If you are visiting Melbourne, please visit the Sky view deck from the Eureka Building. The view from the 88th Floor is spectacular. The lift from the ground floor to the 88th floor, takes a mere 38 seconds. They have a glass deck which costs extra to go on and this protrudes from the building. As I have a fear of heights there was just no way that I would ever go on anything like that. What a wonderful experience.

My last visit to Melbourne was in February and I decided to visit the Eureka Skydeck.

I was fortunate enough to be the only person taken into the lift at the time and in a little over 30 seconds, I was whizzed up to the observation level and was instantly blown away by the breathtaking views!

I went not too long before the sun started to go down and stayed until it was dark, so I got to see the views in both daylight and darkness. The sunset was beautiful, but I imagine there have been many even more beautiful sunsets to experience from there!

There were quite a lot of people and some do tend to either get in your way or on't move, even if for a split second, to let you take a photo, but I guess that's a given at any place like this.

I think anybody who lives in Melbourne must do this! Don't just take it for granted, get up there and see your city from those dazzling heights! Same goes for visitors! I'll be coming back for sure!

Great way to see the entire city when you first arrive. The price for a family is very reasonable.

Spend some time there and go at sunset so you get to see the city in light and at night time. The Edge platform cube is great and a must do !! A wonderful place to pick up interesting facts on the city and view the city !!!
