“Whats for Dinner”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 January 2012

This truly a place to head for when not really certain where to eat in Melbourne. Started with the first Pizza shop in melbourne and now whilst many Italian offerings it now has many types of food options with good pricing options to suit.

“Good for a look.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 January 2012

The Lygon Street strip is a bit of a caricature of what it was but still worth a look. During the busy summer months vendors will stand out on the street, letting you know their deals and trying to get you to eat at their restaurant. Most of the food is pretty standard fare and generally pretty good.

My favourite is Trotters which is situated at the northern end of the street. It doesn't have the Italian-ness of the other places but the food is excellent and good quality.

“Tourist trap filled with so-so restaurants”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 January 2012

It's very touristy, and most of the restaurants aren't that good anyway. There are much nicer areas and better (Italian) restaurants in other parts of Melbourne.

“Fantastic ambience”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 January 2012

Lygon Street on a Friday evening is a hive of activity -- and on a summer's evening it's great to sit out at a pavement cafe soaking up what is best about Melbourne. You'll find some of the most authentic Italian food Melbourne has to offer here. The spruikers are always out in full force -- but it's worth checking out some of the menus before you make a decision as to where to eat, as there is a lot of choice!

“My hasn't it changed?”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 January 2012

Has great history behind it, where the early migrating Italians estblished businesses and congregated. Now I feel it has become a tad glitzy and tired. Sprukiers down the end going towards the city, very annoying trying to get you to come in and eat at their cafe. Worse in the evening. At Lygon Court is Cinema Nova, excellent Art House Cinema with frequent screeings. Tip: visit the outstanding independent bookshop "Readings" opposite Lygon Court. Bargain table front left as you walk in. Their knowledge and expertise is second to none tracing a book/CD.
