Went here on a Groupon and had a sampler and drinks. I had a hot whisky which was delicious and not overly strong with whisky which I preferred. The sampler was so delicious especially if your not sure if you'd like something or normally order like black pudding which was yummy.
Service was attentive and very hospitable.
Had a good vibe.

When we arrived the Scottish bar was busy and the music was loud, but had a good atmosphere. We'd booked our meal weeks in advance but there was no table with a reserved sign for us, as was seen on tables for other parties, so when more members of our party arrived, we had to ask the barmaid to move people from the tables that she said were booked for us. She told us that we should order our food at the bar, so I grabbed menus for everyone. She then came over to the table to ask for my groupon voucher for the sharing platter. For some reason, the barmaid then came to the table and took food orders from part of the group and said she would be back. She didn't come back, and then the platter arrived and 3 people still hadn't ordered. In fact, the sharing platter arrived well before anyone else's food. The others then went to the bar to order. Sadly, the sharing platter was the only dish that turned out to be any good. The selection on the platter was superb, despite only 3 items being Scottish (haggis balls, black pudding and tattie scones) but it was delicious. The fish and chips ordered by 2 people was dreadful, looking more like over-cooked goujons with more batter than fish. One woman couldn't even eat hers it was so bad. The two that had the mushroom burger said it was bland, and the person who ordered the macaroni cheese received macaroni cheese balls in a bowl??? Ironically, the 2 Scottish members of our party had the least success at being understood at the bar.... A good pub, but most certainly wouldn't eat there again.

I've visited the pub a few times and I've always left a happy customer keen to go back. The prices are reasonable, the atmosphere is lively and welcoming, even when quiet. Service is excellent and the food is good, especially the haggis!

Many people believe that haute cuisine in Scotland is that Glaswegian speciality, the deep fried Mars Bar. The Highlander,, however, proves otherwise. We started off with a cocktail each. I had a Green Monkey, Scotch with.freshly squeezed appled juiced, topped with a spiral of green apple. My dining companion had a Mac Daddy, which is Scotch with green ginger wine with hints of burnt orange. It was most enjoyable. We then had a tasting platter, including deep fried cheese balls, haggis balls, black sausage with HP sauce and fried chicken, amongst other thiugs. In all. we thought it was well worth the money. The bar staff happily supplied table water, with a twist of lemon and lots of ice. The staff are very welcoming, go for dinner and stay for a drink -- Scotch, naturally...
