Hidden little gem worth looking for.
Good always interesting and very Melbourne- tasty, new and healthy. Hard to get a seat during peak times and they close early. 4pm... the decor inside is nice and coffee great. Much choice .
Bonjour Helena!
Thank you so much for your feedback! The Chez Dre team couldn't be happier to read feedback like yours!
Hope to see you again in 2019!

Chez Dre is one of the brunch spots that pops up in mind when you want to have breakfast in South Melbourne area.It is one of the pioneer brunch places around South Melbourne area. The cafe has the industrial interior design look with modern and minimalist furnitures. The vibe was really great and very comfortable. The customer service was nice and friendly; We loved the vibe and ambience in this restaurant, it was really cosy and relax.
We ordered :
1. Steak (150g grass fed scotch fillet, potato fondant, café de paris butter, beef jus, herb & leaf salad) for $23.50The steak was pretty dry and overcooked but it was well seasoned. ** 3.0/5.0
2. The Coddle Eeg (spinach puree, fried leeks, parmesan, crème fraîche & toasted baguette) for $16.50It was pretty average and we didn't find any special on this dish but the baguette was fantastic. ** 3.5/5.0
3. Cassoulet(smoked ham hock, pork sausage, bacon, beans, herb crumb, fried egg & baguette) for $19.50 ** 4.0/5.0We loved the baguette, it was really fresh served. The winner this time was Cassoulet, the cassoulet was the best compared to steak and the coodle eeg. To be honest, the taste of Cassoulet was above average and we quite enjoyed having this dish.
No doubt, the presentation on all dishes were very nice and appealing, but the taste was pretty average and not extraordinary. In addition, the portion wasn't really generous at all for this value of dish.
Service : 4.0
Taste : 3.5
Price : 2.5
Speed : 3.0
Yay : Cassoulet was recommended.
Nay : The steak was dry, portion was relatively small for this value

Great location and atmosphere. The coffee is okay and food not that bad. Can get a little busy so you need to time your visit.
Second visit to Chez Dre - the first was fine except for several items added to our bill that we did not order.
Second visit, three of us arrived on a sunny morning at 10am. The courtyard was half empty, and there were several tablets free inside. As soon as we entered we were told they were not taking any additional people. We asked for an explanation - were all these tables reserved or something. No, they were just not taking anyone else and there would be at least a half an hour wait.
There's so much choice in Melbourne they will not get another chance - second and certainly last visit.
