Very disappointed as we had eaten here a couple of times more than 12 months ago.
We booked for 7 pm on Friday night, place was packed. We sat upstaitrs and place was boiling hot.
We ordered 1 each of the "tiny " croquettes at $6 each, Chorizo at $19.50 which ended up being half a chorizo and a couple of little bits of tomato ( total rip off). My wife had the mussels which was a good sized serve and very nice. At the same price as the chorizo make the chorizo look even worse value. I also ordered a empanada. This came 20minutes after we had finished the other dishes. Evidently takes 20 minutes to cook, delivered 50 minutes after we ordered and it was still doughy soft pastry $10 each.
We had raved about this place to quite a few people and not any more. Notice startiing to get similar comments. Wont be back and Bomba just around the corner leaves it for dead in all aspects. Just totaaly over priced for what was also pretty average food.

We attended a Chef’s dinner where new dishes were being tested. The opening warm olives and croquette were masterful, the razor fish from Scotl@nd however were chewy and gritty, the large spears of asparagus topped with Jamon was delightful, the one scallop in a shell was tasty, the let down was the calamari which was spongy and undercooked for our liking, and the mousse dessert to finish was rich. Matching wines for each course were well selected and offered a compliment to every dish.

Sat lunch visit 4 weeks ago to celebrate a milestone & the birthday girl, hankering for a paella chose this place based on reviews.

Can't fault the friendly service but Paella del Mar (seafood) was a major disappointment. At $37 p.p - cost five of us $185 for an average sized dish - the seafood imparted no flavour because it was the deep frozen stale stuff from god knows where. All you could savour was an overwhelming taste of paprika - a real letdown after 45 mins prep wait - which we were aware of as it is stated on their menu & reminded when order is taken.

White Sangria aperitif had no kick. But Pato Frito (pan fried duck breast), chargrilled eggplant & Patatas Bravas were good. However - these 3 did not make up for overpriced mediocre seafood Paella & Sangria - which is what we came for.

Nope - won't visit again.

We visited Portello Rosso with another couple on a Friday night at 6pm. I cannot complain about the attentive service. The wait staff were lovely. I didn't think the food was great value for money. The tapas was overpriced and lacking in flavour. The paella was okay. What I found to be most frustrating was the Pan a la Catalana which came out as basically chargrilled bread and two baby tomatoes for $11.50. What a waste of money! It definitely was not at a high standard.
