Visited on Friday 23rd February. We went down to have a look at Spirit of Tasmania berthed there and found there was also a cruise ship in. It was very busy with so many people around so had a quick look and drove on.

Visited Port Melbourne in 2016 and had a good enjoyable ferry ride. We loved the scenery and had very good meals in the restaurant too.

My hubby and I have cruised from multiple ports around the world and Melbourne's pier area is very nice. Keep in mind that many passenger ports are located in industrial zones where cargo containers and cargo ships reside. So to experience Melbourne's port was pleasant. For those going into the city center of Melbourne there is a local tram bus #109 just a short distance away from where one departs the cruise ship. One can purchase tram tickets or tours right outside the ship. We had already pre-booked a tour to the Great Ocean Road and our tour van was located just outside the passenger car garage near a restaurant.

I didn't have real plans today, but just decided to take a tram #1 to South Melbourne beach and took a relaxing stroll down to Station Pier. It was a nice walk. As it was a sunny day, lots of people were out on the beach. Great place for an ice-cream/gelato and there's a good seafood joint there (eaten there before). Good just for a quiet day out, otherwise, there isn't much to do, unless you are boarding the Spirit of Tasmania.
