All aspects of this hotel were excellent. A good sized room, good room servicing, friendly and helpful reception staff, good in-room dining, good breakfasts and dinner in the restaurant and a great location opposite the waterfront. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: Hotel has harbour and mountain views. Both are good, with "mountain" being on the quieter...

The Grand Chancellor Hobart reflects the city itself, surrounded by breathtaking natural landscapes, resplendent in old-world charm, statuesque and full of character, but far from ostentatious. Located across the harbour, and with views of the waterfront or hinterland, rooms provide wonderful vistas and are very conducive to a good night's sleep. Breakfast in the restaurant below, or tea and coffee and cake at the lounge downstairs is also a treat. Staff are also immensely helpful and cheerful (going out of their way to provide tips on the best eateries and places to visit). A wonderful hotel in Hobart..

Room Tip: The waterfront is always a treat

We stayed for one night in Hobart after driving and stayed in the country area, we were lucky enough to get a room during Easter period at this hotel. We stayed in a renovated mountain view room, got a corner room, we could see both Mt Wellington, and also the harbor.
Nice room, comfortable bed, and modern bathroom. Good value for money.
The bar in the lobby was a great place to have a drink with the view of the harbor.
For me, this is more of a business hotel if you need to be in the centre of Hobart. One thing to mention, if you have a car, there is a charge to park the car, again we were lucky that the reception waived the charge...so thank you for that!

Room Tip: Book the refurbished room

I am very disapointed to have to write this review. I booked the Executive suite with the harbour views, for a romantic getaway. This was one of the most expensive rooms and I picked it because of th size, pool, gym views and expected service levels of a 4 1/2 star hotel etc.

First disappointment:
Drove up to th efront of the hotel - Not attended and a sign on the wall saying valet service available for a charge - emeber 4 1/2 star hotel.

Second Disappointment
Go to reception and was asked again to pay for the valet and also to pay for the parking - Yes a daily rate in a 4 1/2 star hotel. Also The Executive suite does not come with breakfast - that was also an additional charge. Asfront desk what exactly was included in the 4 1/2 star service that i had paid for?

Third Disppointment
Get to Room - Very spacious but has not been refurbished in years, no modern appliances - no radio clock, DVD player, ipod player, and you have to pay for all films. I can undertsand this for a basic room but remember this room is priced almost double that of other rooms. bathroom was nice and did look refurbished recently. Note: Was advised by front desk that other "Cheaper" rooms have been refurbished and I could have one of these but could not be refunded the additional price I paid for my room......could not believe what I was hearing! The went and checked out the pool and gym both looked dated and need of a good clean - did not use either as a result.

1 Positive
Views where amazing and the Lobby looks really nice, saff where friendly but embarrased when asked about charges

Room Tip: Only book refurbished - rest are dated and sparcely furnished

Overall the hotel is very clean and well kept. The rooms are fairly spacious with good amenities.
It is certainly not as noisy as other city Hotels in Hobart.

Room Tip: Be sure to ask for a room on the upper floors with a harbour view, otherwise you will just get a vie...
