Friendly, helpful staff. Nice kitchen, lounge, and large lockers with interior power outlets so your electronics can be powered secured in your locker. Good night’s sleep, quiet hostel. Nice showers with ample stalls for your clothes, toiletries. Delicious complimentary pancakes each morning. Helpful strong pre-arrival communication. But dorm room kept way too chilly cold for winter, even after asking at reception a couple times to 'please turn up the heat'.
But One MAJOR YHA WEAKNESS: Its WiFi SUCKS. As soon as you call up the YHA Hostel log-in page, YHA starts selling you its Premium WiFi (presumably faster, more reliable; no mention of speed) for $15/week. Premium $15/week WiFi also advertised throughout YHA on its ‘Password Signs’.
YHA’s so-called ‘Free WiFi’ runs like 1996, plan on 5+ minutes to upload a 6-8 MB photo, frequent disrupted uploads, downloads not much better. Unable to connect to Uber. The free dirtball WiFi is so poor, I shelled out $15/week, and then the ‘so-called Premium WiFi’ STILL SUCKED. Frequent disconnects, including my VOIP call to airlines to discuss important flight changes. And still 2+ minutes to upload photos! Pathetic.More
