“Terrific!”
Reviewed 15 April 2012

We stayed here three nights at the beginning of April and thought it was wonderful. Fred and Antonia are gracious and welcoming hosts, and made us feel at home. The apartments were lovely, large, clean and quiet, with a nice private balcony. As others have said, the location adjacent to the beach and at the end of the main commercial street is perfect. Antonia and Fred were very knowledgeable about local excursions and tours, providing advice and arranging bookings. The excursions were excellent--a diving trip, a sailboat snorkeling trip, and a self-guided driving tour of Daintree (a great recommendation from Fred). Our stay here in Port Douglas was the highlight of our Australian vacation. We are looking forward to a return visit.

We stayed here for 10 days in March. Antonio and Fred were excellent hosts and extremely helpful and knowledgeable and arranged our transfers to and from Cairns Airport. They booked our tours for us and suggested places to go. We went on the Daintree & Cape Tribulation trip, which included Cassowary Falls, the Lady Douglas and the Habitable Reserve in Port Douglas. Fred even gave us a lift to the Reserve in Port Douglas. Our ground floor room was spacious and comfortable, with a patio area with table & chairs and 2 sunbeds. It is very convenient for the beach, main road with shops, restaurants and marina - all within easy walking distance.

We had a couple of nights here at the end of February and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Lovely large apartment, nice compact refreshing pool and in a very pleasant town. Ideal for walking along to bars and restaurants or the beach but far enough away to be quiet at night (well, we had torrential rain & thunder but that only added to the excitement and atmosphere!)

The only reason I haven't rated it 5* is because the booking hadn't come through from booking.com (the only one out of 13 hotels booked) and while this wasn't a problem and there was a room available (and our hosts couldn't have been more helpful and accommodating), the room obviously hadn't been used in a while and the floor was pretty dusty.

I'd happily go back there though.

So often you are actively discouraged from staying a single night at a place, but here we felt very welcome. The manager's were excellent, the room was clean and tidy and, had it not been raining, the proximity to the beach would have been a bonus.
We paid $130 for the night, and that was great value.

We stayed here for 4 nights in February and it was the best hotel on our 3 week Australia trip. The accommodation was lovely and spacious, with a Balinese feel. Great location, within walking distance of restaurants/shops but at the end of the main street very close to the beach, so nice and quiet. We used the bbq one night (with some help from Chris and Leanne!) and had some fantastic days out to the Daintree and Cape Trib, despite it being very hot and humid. Only slight downside was that many of the shops and restaurants were closed in Feb/Mar due to the season, but the town was still lovely. We would definitely recommend the apartments, as well as the drive from Cairns along the stunning coastal road (worth stopping at one of the beaches, especially first thing in the morning when it's beautifully peaceful, but beware of the crocodiles!)
