Can't recommend Dreamtime highly enough. The staff were bubbly, welcoming and always had a smile, and were so helpful when it came to booking a trip and hiring a car. The bed was really comfortable, there was really good wifi, the bathroom facilities were spacious and clean, and the pool was superb for cooling off. The biggest thing was the general feel of the place – I felt so calm and relaxed here. Could not recommend this place enough.

Me and my friend stayed at this hospital for three nights and it was a great experience I highly recommended. The hostel was clean each section of the rooms had it small kitchen with refrigerator shower and toilet which were very clean. Gabby the manager was very helpful she gave us insight of the activities around town. Rooms have air conditioner; however you need to pay for it separately which is very affordable; 1 Australian dollar for 3 hrs a/c

Clean, quiet, charming and fun. Gabby is THE BEST. Very friendly and helpful, often going above and beyond to help with matters not even related to hostel stay. Activities like BBQ, movie, fire dancer, pizza night throughout the week. Would stay there again in a minute.

I loved this hostel! After staying one night in a horrible hostel down the road we were delighted to be greeted by Gabby the amazing friendly receptionist and immediately felt at ease - this place is brilliant! The vibe was very relaxed and friendly and staff were always willing to give you advice on tours and travel or just have chat!
The hostel is small enough for you to get to know everyone, the communal areas are very social (highlight being the cosy camper!) and the hostel host events which encourage mingling such as pizza nights, a BBC night and movie nights weekly. It's in a great location; opposite the shopping centre, a 10 minute walk into the main streets full of bars, restaurants and shops, and about a 20 minute walk from the marina (the hostel offer a courtesy bus down to the marina at 7.30am daily for reef boat trips but they do not pick you up - there is only space for 7 people so book a spot ahead at reception.) We booked two amazing tours recommended by Gabby, she sorted everything for us and made our experience very easy - thank you!
We stayed in a 3 bed dorm, the room was well furnished with plugs available by every bed. There was a shared bathroom which was kept very clean throughout our stay. There are two kitchens which are small and do lack enough cooking equipment for everyone during peak times so wash up quickly so everyone can eat!
Can not recommend this place enough! One of my favourites!

If you’re looking for a relaxed and friendly atmosphere while in Cairns this is the place for you! There is a massive open communal area with a kitted out hippee van which is great to relax in. The staff are all lovely. Gabby at the front desk is brilliant! She’s hilarious and great to chat to. She seems to know everyone in the hostel and knows loads about all the local trips you can book. We booked two recommended by Gabby and they were both brilliant.

There are great evenings at the hostel. Monday madness all you can eat pizza from dominoes - so nice and they catered to dietary requirements. Wednesday they do a BBQ with a massive range of salads and then meats and a chance to try kangaroo! There was also a fire dancer as entertainment after the BBQ. There is also movie night twice a week. Free popcorn with the movie so if you’re peckish head down!

We stayed in a 3 bed for $27 a night (average price for cairns) and you get lots for your money. It’s all kept clean by a team everyday. Air-conditioning is $1 for 3 hours but we had a fan which worked well.
It’s a straight shot to the sea front and it is literally across the road from a shopping centre which includes a Coles supermarket so great for getting some food.
The hostel itself is licensed so you can buy beers and ciders there for $5. There is a pool with a few deck chairs to hangout on a hot day if you don’t want to venture out. Book exchange and two upstairs lounges as well.

The only negative is the lack of pots and pans in the kitchens when everyone is cooking at once so try and avoid peak times.

We were so sad to leave this hostel as it truly was a home from home. I’ve stayed in a fair few hostels and this is the best yet! Would come back to this hostel 100%.
