Il Palazzo was a very pleasant home away from home. It was quiet, roomy, clean and well appointed. Staff were pleasant and helpful. My only complaint was, as we had booked a promotional deal it was unserviced which was not mentioned when booking.

We stayed at Il Palazzo for 5 nights and 5 days. It was wonderful!

The apartments and the facility are clean, safe, well-maintained with everything you need: good beds, clothes washer, clothes dryer, kitchen, kitchen appliances, kitchen utensils, good heating and air conditioning. Each apartment has a great little balcony with chairs. The balcony is a great place for morning tea or a glass of wine in the evening. And it's quiet -- easy to get a good night's sleep.

The location is excellent. It is in the heart of Cairns, conveniently close to everything. It's two blocks to the beach. Restaurants and cafes are just steps away. There's a grocery a block and a half away. All kinds of shopping is available from the night-only shops to the high-end Louis Vuitton down the street.

Free, secured, on-site parking. Good pool and pool area that is, I believe, recently remodeled.

The proprietors, Donovan and Kay, and their staff are very nice and incredibly knowledgeable about the area, what to do, and where to go. They booked a couple side trips for us and their help was invaluable. Ask for their advice.

Il Palazzo gets my highest recommendation. You won't regret staying there!

Amazing hotel!! Fantastic place to stay. Not noisy, cute little balconys, good location right in the centre of town. Everything right on your doorstep. Highly recommend it to anyone looking for a one night-a week self-contained, clean, hotel. It even has a washing machine AND an ironing board that is actually half decent.

We stayed 5 nights at the Il Palazzo, and highly recommend it. This great little apartment had a balcony (which we sat on every night with a glass of wine), a kitchen, living room, washer/dryer...what more did we need? We had a late arrival, but Pauline had sent instructions, and everything went smoothly. Everyone we met there was friendly and helpful. Pauline booked tours to Kuranda and Cape Tribulation, and Kay (I think) helped us with ideas for places to go for dinner. Every time we arrived home after a day on the reef or in the rain forest I would turn to my husband and say "I am so glad we picked this place". It was a home away from home, and we enjoyed every minute of our stay. Although the apartment faced the street, it was not noisy at all. The location was excellent, walking distance from many restaurants, the Reef Terminal (where you catch the boats for Great Barrier Reef tours), and right next to the night market, which is a fun place to check out. The kitchen is stocked with some condiments (at no cost) and some snacks (at some cost), and across the street is Woolworth's, where we stocked up on breakfast food, snacks, and fruit. Next door to Woolies is a wine store, and we stocked up there too.

I found the hotel on trip advisor and booked it via hotels.com. The only feedback that I have is that our apartment didn't have daily service - this means that we were on our own for making the bed, and that towels and beds were not changed. This isn't a problem, but it would have been helpful if the little packets of sugar were restocked, and if there were some napkins. Again, not a big deal...we brought back our Splenda from the coffee shop and should have bought napkins from Woolies, but we weren't prepared for that.

Overall, a wonderful place to stay, and we didn't want to leave.

Nice large apartment overlooking Abbott St. Not noisy at all due to double glazing. Pleasant, helpful reception staff and secure free parking. Central location. Only minor gripe is the pool is only a metre or so deep!

Room Tip: Probably the rooms on the upper floors overlooking the pool are better but the first floor one overlooking the street was fine.
