“Enjoyable day out”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 August 2012 via mobile

We took the skyrail up to Kuranda and the train back. We actually enjoyed the train more but think anyone should experience both. Kuranda itself has changed a lot since I last visited but was still nice to spend a couple of hours. The butterfly sanctuary was good and also having a photo taken with a Koala. Everything seemed to cost 16 dollars there. A good day out overall.

“pick your time”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 August 2012

I went up on the skyrail as it was a beaut clear morning and really enjoyed the short walks (and Ranger Jeremy's talk) at the two stops.
On arrival around 11 am I went straight to the rail station and booked a seat on the second return train, this gave plenty of time for a leisurely wander up the town, and a snack lunch. Don't miss the downstairs mineral museum at the rock shop on the corner of the main streets.
Walk back to the station on the less busy side - the art galleries and pottery shops are worth looking into....
If you are lucky you will have a seat at the back of the train, but take one at the front if it gets you a window (left side going down) seat - there is not a lot of commentary, (good, so you can chat) but always plenty of warning of slow points or stops for photo opportunities.
I did not need a bus transfer - back to the skyrail or to the hotel, so the day cost me less than $100. Good value.

“Kuranda Skyrail - so pretty”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 August 2012

We visited Kuranda via the Skyrail both up and back. Although the morning was drizzly and cloudy, the views were still amazing. Return trip in brilliant sunshine was even better. Ensure you get off at both of the stops and do the boardwalks - educational and lovely. We didn't do a guided walk as the times didn't match our stopovers.
Next time we would go one direction on the scenic railway as that would give you a different view of the rainforest, Barron Falls, etc.
Kuranda itself is a touristy, market town; as long as this is what you expect you wont be disappointed. Make sure you do some of the short walks from the township through the forest and alomng the river - very pretty. Visit the sweet making shop - yummy.

“Great way to see rainforest and Kuranda”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 July 2012

My wife and I did the Kuranda Skyrail and Coach tour while on holiday in Australia. We did the Skyrail up to Kuranda and the train back. The tour is pricey but worth it. This option including the train upgrade was about $190/each. The Skyrail station is about 15 minutes north of Cairns. The package included transportation to/from hotel. The negative about the transportation was on the way back from train station to hotel. It was very disorganized and took much longer than we were expecting. The Skyrail was amazing. It is nice and quiet way to see the rainforest. There are two stops before Kuranda and I recommend to get off and take both walks. The Skyrail station is close to Kuranda village and easy walk. The train was nice way to get back. I recommend doing the upgrade to gold coach which includes appetizers and drinks. There are great views of the Barron Falls and the valley. There is narrative throughout the train ride that discusses how the rail line was built. We really enjoyed the experience and it was great way to spend one day in Cairns area.

“Great skyrail trip & super train!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 July 2012 via mobile

The views from the skyrail are just beautiful. Well worth it!

Kuranda itself was ok - nothing too great but good to spend about an hour walking around.

One of my favourite parts of the day was the train back down on the Kuranda rail. We travelled Gold Class which was just brilliant & I can highly recommend the extra cost. The seats were comfortable, the atmosphere in the carriage was very welcoming with super service! How nice it was to enjoy the trip with a drink in hand and a lovely little appetiser plate.

All in all a great day out!
