We visited Oakwood (the rain didn't put us off) but we had to wait in a longer queue to get in. A number of rides were closed and others such as Speed,Vertigo and the Ghost Train were closed for some time due to maintenance issues. Also if you pay in advance you still have to queue in the same line as the people who haven't yet paid. We also called in at The Oak Tree for a snack but they only served full meals. Speed finally reopened and was great. There are areas for younger children like Neverland as well as the bigger rides and rollercoasters. We enjoyed the Haunted Maze, which is only open for Halloween.
We left feeling slightly disgruntled that there were so few rides on offer, particularly as it had been advertised as a special Halloween opening. I think if the weather had been kinder we would have stayed longer and perhaps had a better time. On a positive note, there were hardly any queues and the staff were very helpful and friendly.

Our second visit to Oakwood. A number of rides were closed ( Pirate ship, Drenched, Bounce) and others had limited opening ( Speed, Ghost train, Vertigo). Staff were friendly despite the dank dreary weather but I felt the park should have offered discounted entry ( or good- will vouchers if people had paid in advance) as I didn't feel it was worth the money. A lot of people were disgruntled at so many rides closed or limited. On a positive note, the queues were small and the new landscaping and planting were nice!

So many negative reviews on here nearly put us off going. So....here is my honest review. We went on a Thursday. It is half term for our area (Kent) where it isn't in Pembrokeshire. So there were no queues. At all. All day! Now there may be fewer rides than at Chessington, Alton Towers or those. But it's cheaper for a reason. It is a smaller park.

The Neverland area of the park is fab for your younger guests. The Tinkerbell ride is brilliant and the log flume was brilliant (especially if Drenched is too scary for you ). It was more thrilling than i thought a 'kids ride would be and we got soaked! The Waterfalls and Snake falls rides are fab too but be prepared to be damp after you get off! We took spare clothes in the car and I'm so glad we did! We all got changed firvthe journey home. My son was SOAKED!

There are 3 big rides tgat in my opinion are among the best in the UK. 'Drenched' gets you soaked but it is the best water ride I've been on. 'Speed' is the kind of rides teenagers love. It was too scary for us 4, but it looks amazing. And 'Megaphobia' is just a brilliant ride with several stomach-dropping drops! We also really enjoyed the James and the Giant Peach ride. Short ride but really good fun.

As there were no queues we were able to get on the same ride time after time after time. We must have been on 40-60 rides each today. The staff were SUPERB. Really friendly and helpful. Also there was no litter. I hate the food you get at places like this so we brought our own picnic. There are plenty of places to eat picnics, and for £1.50 You can leave your lunch bag on lockers at the Box Office. We didn't bother because it was so easy (and safe) to drop bags on the exit side of the coaster trains so we could pick them up as we exited the ride.

If you know you're going, book online on the Oakwood website. We saved £21 on a family of 4 ticket. We paid £69 for 2 adults and 2 children today. We were one of the first in the park at 10.30am and the last to leave at 5pm.

To all the staff, thank you for making the best of days for my family. The gentleman on Treetops (another fab ride!- sit at the back for the best experience) and anotger in charge of Megaphobia for most of the day were the best members of staff we encountered.

So to summarise, no- it isn't Alton Towers but the price reflects it. And there are minimal queues. Personally I'd rather go somewhere where there aren't massive crowds, and I can go on rides again and again and again! Loved our day here- we will be returning as soon as we can save up for it.

We paid mainly with Tesco vouchers and so felt that it was decent value for money.

The positives first!

Plenty of roller coasters, if that’s your thing!
Number of shops and food outlets that look well maintained
Large indoor soft play area and a few indoor machines such as 2p and 10p slot machines and bowling if it’s raining
Some of the areas such as Neverland and James and Giant peace cater to younger children once they are a meter tall
We easily spent the afternoon on site

The negatives

The site is a strange combination of the new (James and the Giant Peach) and the old . It was hard to tell what was working and what wasn’t.
The restaurant only served food until 3pm.

We would visit again but it is nowhere on a par with others like Lego Land, CBeebies Land etc. However if you are on holiday in the area, it’s worth a visit.

We went on the Sunday after Storm Brian, so some of the rides were still closed. They did inform us before paying to ensure that we were still happy. Full price is £27, however we paid on tesco clubcard points which was only £6.50 each. There were no queues on any of the rides, and we managed to stay on one for 3 goes without getting off. We rode the Pirate ship on our own, so even though we only stayed for about 4 hrs felt we had our monies worth.
