Absolutely perfect spot for a cafe with prime views, such a shame that the young staff working there were absolutely useless with customer service and have no idea how to work in the service industry! Such a shame - could’ve been a great cafe...

It seems after a brief closure to put a window in for coffee orders (which was not operating...only for takeaway pick ups) they have lifted their game! But not changed the dangerous entry 'ramp' - please just put a step in!
Our hamburgers were great, made with a nice brioche bun, and the crumbed fish and the chips were really good too!
I still wouldn't call the staff friendly and I wouldn't risk a coffee from a fish n chip cafe when there are plenty of good places in Wynnum and Manly that specialise in coffee, but we'll definitely give them another go for fish n chips and burgers!

Pelican’s Nest used to be our ‘go to’ fish and chips at Wynnum, but in recent times it has gone downhill. It is in such a great location. I was there with 2 other people this week. Two of us had crumbed perch. While the fish itself wasn’t too bad, the crumb coating was a ridiculously thick casing that was tough and inedible. One person had crumbed barramundi which looked more like it had been grilled with a few crumbs. At 12.15pm, the only salad left was a beetroot and feta salad - no basic garden salad or any other. It suggests the salads aren’t prepared fresh each day. The chips were good but a very small serving. I have been a patron of this cafe on numerous occasions over the years and I will be very disappointed if they can’t improve their food.

Terrible service, we just wanted to order a coffee. The girl taking the order was also the one making the coffees. She had no personality, no smiles, no hello.
We let this slide as we could see was busy..
Over half an hour wait for just coffee!!!

Will not be back
It’s a shame as this is a prime spot for an amazing cafe!

3 of us went to lunch today, seeking a nice seafood meal by the bay. We ordered 3 pieces of grilled sweetlip, small chips to share and small coleslaw to share. I was told they were out of coleslaw at 11.40am but they do have potato salad which in the servers words" is the same as coleslaw but just made with potatos" Should have took note of the warning signs then, but ordered the greek salad
We got buzzed to collect our meals and were presented with 3 plates: 1 with a really thin and small piece of what was supposed to be a $10 piece of sweetlip and 4 tablespoons of which was a poorman's greek salad, the other 2 plates each had a really thin and small piece of what was supposed to be a $10 piece of sweetlip and app 1/4 cup of pale coloured potato chips.

I took the "food" to the table the fish was so dry and thin it was like fish skin and the chips were under cooked. When I spoke with the SO CALLED manager, a young girl almost 20 years old, she said she could only refund what was untouched so I sweetlip cause we had tried the other 2 between the 3 of us and the chips. So a big $14.50 off a $52 bill and the visiting birds were fed the rest.

# other tables had either left their food or threw it in the bin.

Won't be hurrying back there.
