We stayed here for two nights in March 2012.

The single best thing was how soft beds were.

The room was small and noisy. We were only given one cup and spoon between the two of us. The bathrobes were horrid. The bathroom was clean enough, but not very functional as it was so cramped.

Also, parking is $45 per night which just seems ludicrous on top of almost $200 AUS per night.

Overall, we're really disappointed by the hotel. The Sofitel name is held in high esteem, but we will not be back.

We have stayed at the Sofitel a few times before and have thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Unfotunately on this occasion, outside noise spoiled our stay. Parking was also a bit expensive with $45 per day for self parking and $55 for valet parking.

This stay, we decided to use our Advantage Plus free night and stay in a superior room. We were given a nice room on the 18th floor (the highest floor for superior rooms). The room was clean, spacious and had a nice view. Bathroom was good with nice toiletries.Towels were large and fluffy. Shower was over bath.

The downside was the noise from outside! Trains and traffic could be heard most of the night. We have stayed in the Sofitel before on the Club Floors and have heard no noise at all. In fact we had commented that the train station was below and we heard nothing. Sadly, we heard each train this time.

Room Tip: As high as you can afford to avoid the noise.

Did not plan to stay here but my cruise was delayed a day and about 300 people descended onto this property pretty much at the same time and I expected a rough night. Boy was I wrong!
It was a national holiday in Australia and the hotel expected about 50 PEOPLE. They scrambled to get workers to accommodate all of us, especially to feed us! People at the front desk could not have been nicer, in fact everyone we came in contact with was great. Trust me, we were an eclectic group with some wackos and some deserved to be treated poorly. The bar service, though overrun was good and the buffet dinner we had was amazing. I can't believe they got enough food in to fed us, let alone this well. The room was nice, though not cool enough.
If I ever get back to Brisbane I would only stay here. The night before I stayed at the Holiday by the train station - see review elsewhere. I want to mention a gentleman named Wade. He is a bell person who really went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. I cannot say enough about what this hotel did for us on the 26th of January, especially with all the horrendous weather and flooding that the area was receiving.

I got a basic room, but expected more as it was at the Sofitel and knew the brand had a set expectation for Luxury. The beds where basic, sheets where worn and had holes in some of the covers. Bathroom was moldy in places that where really clear. They have to teach house keeping how to make beds, as it was all a bit of a rough job.

Overall the staff where very friendly, its a great location, very central and easy to get the Airport Train to and from the City, which is faster and cheaper than a Taxi.

Though, I think next time, I will opt for the Hilton.

We stayed here the night before boarding QM2 for a cruise around Australia.

The hotel is very nice. It's centrally located close to Queen Street Mall and restaurants.

The check in process was easy and friendly.

The rooms are spacious and the bed was very comfortable.

Check out was slow, with only 1 staff member serving.

Otherwise, excellent hotel.
