The staff were friendly and helpful and the room was very big for it's low price. However the room felt unclean and was in dire need of updating. The bathroom was dirty and I felt uncomfortable having my kids use the bath tub. There was a full kitchen which was great but again, dirty dish cloth, dirty tea towel and dirty mugs. Ok for budget accommodation.

Alice Springs is a unique holiday destination with so many amazing sights to see. Beautiful gorges, historically significant buildings, Aboriginal communities and some stunning water courses, topped off with breath taking sunsets, a photographers
dream. The CBD is vibrant with markets, food stalls and local artists selling their world re-known indigenous art.

My mother always said if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all. The owners of this property are very nice people - there's my something nice. The room was smelly and unclean. The location is far from town - not safe to walk anywhere at night, and too far to walk to anything in the heat of the day - so you will need a taxi. The rooms do not have phones, so, if you happen to be foreign travellers without cel phones like we were, you're out of luck. We arrived in late from our Red Centre tour - the reception had already closed, but reopened just to check us in and promptly closed again. We were not told that the only nearby restaurant was also closed, and that there was no phone in our room to call with. So, we made do with our leftover trail mix for dinner. There was a light on outside our room all night long, and the curtains didn't quite close properly, so we had glare coming into the room, and a lack of privacy. Add to that the monster bugs that were dive-bombing the light and our door all night long - it was noisy and we got very poor sleep. We are hardy, intrepid, travellers who are used to budget accommodations and roughing it from time to time ... but this place just doesn't make the grade.

Thank you Sharon for the compliments of the management team. We try to make every ones stay at Alice Motor Inn as comfortable as possible. Even finding room for guests that have not been booked with us, such as your self.
As we are only a small motel our office is not open 24/7. But have no objection to opening after hours for our guests comfort.
We will take on board your comments concerning the room you stayed in and discuss with our housekeeping staff as to your concerns.
We think your allocated room, tucked away under the stairs, is possibly one of the quietest and nicest rooms at our motel.
Being left here by your tour guide when expecting to go to different accommodation, in the centre of town, with no luggage as it was in storage at your other accommodation was a downer for you. My husband did offer to take you to retrieve it.
Yes we are about 15 minutes walk to town. A public phone and taxi phone are located in our free to use kitchen/breakfast room and all our take-away places are listed in our compendium which was to be found in your room.
We are a slow 5minute walk to clubs & 10 minutes to an Italian Restaurant, Thai, Indian and fish and chip shop and supermarket.
Thank you for bringing your concerns to our attention.

The rooms have A/C and are clean and tidy, the shower head in my room was held up in place by some string, but it did the job. Breakfast is basic, but covered all what we needed. There was free internet & the owner was happy to printout some things for me. The pool was great also a BBQ next to it for use if wanted.

Room Tip: All very much the same

Though friendly and with a good pool and new barbecue, this hotel is looking tired and needs some TLC.
Our room was clean and fully equipped, but with a couple of bathroom fittings loose or missing.
However the communal breakfast area was well kept and supplied with cereals, toast, tea and coffee. There was a cooker too.
It's 15 minutes' walk to town or a A$10 taxi, buses aren't frequent.
Overall a good budget stop and fair value at A$100 a night.
