Picked up an order of chicken Vegtable fried rice and a spring roll for a small take out dinner. It was excellent! Very tasty rice, great tasting spring roll. Prices were very reasonable. Service was very good and food was prepared very quickly. Not a bad choice at all!

This place is really casual, accepting cash only. It is popular with office workers during the week so it's best to consider the timing of your visit, although they do have a fast through -put of customers. The Laksa is among the very best that I have eaten anywhere including Malasia, Singapore and other restaurants in Sydney. What other foods I have eaten there has been very good, but it is hard to by - pass the Laksa and other soups. The service is quick, efficient, friendly and typical of what to expect in an Asian Street market. Noisy, but terrific no thrills atmosphere.

I went to Malay Chinese because of it’s close proximity to the Opera House and Royal Botanic Gardens, and I’m so glad. The laksa here is so unbelievably cheap and the tastiest, richest laksa I’ve ever, ever had! They do many different versions from tofu to seafood to meat, but the tofu one I had was perfect. I can’t recommend here enough.

We had lunch at Malay Chinese on Friday. It was not even 12pm and the place was very busy with the city lunchtime crowd. The beef rendang lacked flavour and spice and the beef was not very tender. Next time we will try the crowd favourite which appeared to be the laksa.

Really good Laksa, in a great location right in the heart of the CBD.
The restaurant looks a bit old and dated, and the decor is minimal, but as long as you're only here for the food that should not be an issue.
The Laksas are all great, excellent soup base.
I don't like the breast meat chicken, but if I recall there is a drumstick version which is better.
Can get very busy at lunch time as it is very popular with office workers
