“Small quiet harbour beach”
Review of Lady Martins Beach

Lady Martins Beach
Ranked #427 of 492 things to do in Sydney
Reviewed 1 September 2018

This small beach at the tip of Point Piper only has public access via a path next to the Prince Edward yacht club. The western part is underwater at high tide. The eastern part has more sand but at high tide, you'll have to wade through the water or climb over the concrete and wood outside the yacht club to get there. The water seemed fine and the sand was ok but doesn't make it much of a destination unless you want to explore. The waterfront mansions here aren't even very notable - many are downright ugly.

Lady Martin beach was named after the wife of a previous well loved NSW Governor and Rear Admiral Sir David Martin, who I had the pleasure of meeting on several occasions at Government House in the Royal Botanical Gardens. Lady Martin Beach is best to visit at low tide and has excellent views across the Harbour from Shark Island to Bradley's Head in Mosman, the official start line of the Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race. Lady Martin Beach is also home to the private and exclusive Royal Prince Edward Yacht Club, based here in Point Piper one of the most expensive real estate enclaves in Australia. Lady Martin Beach is also home of the current Australian Prime Minister, Malcolm Turnbull. As a member's guest you may enter the Yacht Club which serves excellent meals with some of the best harbour views in Sydney.

Luke is correct in saying that this is not a photo of Lady Martins Beach.

This is an image of Shelly beach taken early in the morning before the crowds arrive.

If you check out certain images on Shelly Beach you can verify.

Shots taken from a very similar angle are hardline-media and debbie bridge.

Personally, I don't think Lady Martins Beach should even be an entry on TripAdvisor as there are dozens of beaches and coves around the Sydney region that are more attractive.

The beach is nice enough, although very small, but as of the 19th September this is not the beach in the photo. It's literally just a strip of sand next to the yacht club. We walked all the way there for the CBD, saw it wasn't what we expected, and went to the much nicer Red Leaf pool nearby.
