“In the Centre of Things”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 May 2012

Nice Hotel in the centre of Sydney. The rooms were a bit small , before the renovation i styed ther and the rooms were bigger.

All the mod cons in the room, no complaints, just the size.

Club level ok, did have everything but no wow factor for me.

I was glad i stayed here just to try it out and compare it to the old one.

I have no complaints really good hotel in the centre of Sydney, but for me lacking something.

Staff were fine, and it is hard to find bad staff in the Chain Hotels i have stayed in, they do their best and try their best as far as i am concerned.

Go for a higher room and if you want space book a suite.

Room Tip: To be in the higher floors

We stayed for five nights. Location is fantastic. Managed to get an early check-in and the check-in process was really smooth. I was disappointed with the size of the room (we booked a deluxe room and apparently was upgraded). The refurbishment is great, just felt cramped in the room. We had breakfast on the executive floor each morning (continental) and it was really good. Very fresh fruit and good yoghurt; nice pastries and a convenient Nespresso machine. Zeta bar has great cocktails and friendly bar staff. Some negatives - we tried to go for dinner at Glass at 10pm and we were told the kitchen was closed - this was a SATURDAY night and the restaurant was buzzing and still full at the time. We were woken up two mornings at around 6:15am with alot of banging and noise outside our door. To our surprise it was the cleaners having no consideration for guests sleeping - the first morning they apologised, but then it happened again the next morning. 9am or 10am for this to happen - fine, but 6:15am when it was not the cleaners store area? The lock on the door was off the hinges which was not safe. Overall its a good location and looks good, just some work needed on service to make you want to go back when there are so many other choices

We greatly appreciate your feedback and comments following your stay at Hilton Sydney.

I am so happy you enjoyed many aspects of your stay, such as the Executive Lounge and Zeta Bar, and our friendly staff.

However, I am sorry to see that you encountered some issues, particularly with Housekeeping during the mornings of your stay. I would truly appreciate further information, such as your room number and date of stay in order to investigate the matter with the team concerned and ensure no such repetition in future. Please do not hesitate to contact me directly.

I am sorry about any disappointment you experienced as a result of not having dinner in Glass Brasserie. Please be advised our Kitchen in Glass Brasserie closes at 10pm and therefore we are unable to seat guests at such time. I do hope you will have another opportunity to come and dine here should your travels bring you back to the area.

Once again thank you for your feedback and I look forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,

Michael Bourne

Stayed here on business and found the location was very central. Useful for getting around the CBD. It's next to Town Hall station which is a stop or two away from Central station and apart from being on the main drag George St, it is opposite the QVB and a short walk to the best shopping complex in town, the new Westfield Sydney.

The hotel interior features dark wood and silver/chrome highlights throughout.

Has a great gym, but a pretty outdated pool which is down in the basement and does not enjoy any great views.

The rooms are pretty spartan, but have all the essentials. I was a bit disappointed with the bar fridge that you cant use for storing any beverages (and have to order up another one).

Would not recommend for a romantic getaway as the room is a bit small and very clean-cut, but once again great for business or solo traveller.

Entertainment in the hotel is above average with the modern Zeta bar on level 4 and the more lively Marble Bar in the basement. Nearby is the playhouse which for a free membership has excellent specials and free drinks nights i.e. Thursdays.

All in all, would definitely go to the Hilton again, it's a modern contemporary hotel in one of the best locations in town.

Thank you for your review.

I am delighted you were pleased with your stay at Hilton Sydney.

We do specialise in romantic getaways and I would recommend a Relaxation Room or one of our fine Suites to maximise the experience.

Thank you again for your feedback, it much appreciated and we look forward to your return sometime in the near future.

Yours Sincerely,

Michael Bourne

Rooms are nothing special, very spartan and Holiday Inn-ish, but good for a short stay in the CBD. Everything clean, in order, etc. Check in and out was efficient. Did not use F&B or gym/pool. Stayed at higher level, lots of light into the room. Better than Sheraton at the Park. Would stay again for business. Lobby is better than Swissotel's nasty one around the corner.

Room Tip: try for higher level
