“Good for a casual dinner with friends or partner”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 April 2012

My husband and I went for a casual dinner. Got a table straight away so impressed as we were quite happily expecting to wait. Vibe was fast paced, staff were great.
Have all of Jamies cookbooks so the menu was exactly as expected, well priced and generously served. Loved the fit out. You could easily come street casual or dressed up if a dinner before going out.
The "free" bread that everyone comments about was sooooo good, definitely order it off the menu. The fish stew was completely delicous. Husband has the squid ink risotto. He didnt love but I quite happily would have (and did!). We shared everything and had about 3 courses. His highlight was the choc brownie/pudding/slice (sorry can't remember the actual dish!), mine was everything. Love a place where you can completely relax, get great service, good value and really enjoy the food. We left very satisfied with our experience and would wholeheartedly reccommend. Perfect for a evening where you dont want to cook and dont want fine dining.
Fingers crossed they open a few more franchises soon!! Come to QLD please!!

“Really enjoyed Jamie's Italian”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 April 2012

My husband and I took our 9 year son to Jamie's for an early mid week meal. Arrived at 5.45pm and got a table immediately. The service was friendly and super efficient, the food delicious and we enjoyed the rustic ambience. Great value for money and the service really was outstanding. Loved it and will return.

“Very Average Indeed”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 April 2012

I took my wife to Jamie's Italian Restaurant on a special occasion, being her birthday. We had to wait for an hour prior to being assigned a table. One good thing is that they take your mobile phone number and call you when the table is ready. This frees you up walk around the city instead of waiting at the bar. Once we were seated we ordered the following from the menu.

Starter - Antipasti Meat Plank 7/10
Entree - Truffle Risotto 7/10
Main 1 - Veal Saltimbocca 5.5/10
Main 2 - 10oz Rib Eye Steak 4/10
Side - Crispy Polenta Chips 4/10

The antipasti was the best of the meal, light yet flavour some. The risotto was good but I make a better version myself which seems to undermine the taste of this dish. The Veal was very tender and the tomatoes on it were tasty but that was about it. I have saved the worst for last. The steak was chewy with lots of gristle. I had issues swallowing the meat and had to place it into a napkin as the quality of the steak was so ordinary. You get better steak at a $7 pub deal.

Overall, a disappointing restaurant that you would expect high standards from.

“Alright.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 April 2012

The food was average - you can get something with much more flavour and zest somewhere else for the same price. I had the mushroom panzerotti and it was okay - it was a bit too flat and didn't have enough umph in it. The portions are decently sized, I would have liked to see it a bit bigger. The service was good except they seemed to kind of ignore you and seem in a bit of a rush which is expected for busy restaurants. My advice - go there to experience, but never again.

The also charge an 8% surcharge for bookings over 6 people. The process was very complicated. You had to book and then they'll send you an email to confirm but you have to fill out an entire form to confirm your booking and the file they sent was corrupt so we had to call them up and they insisted we fill out the form and when they finally sent it back, it was right before our booking so we had to give them our credit card numbers.

“All Hype but no fizz”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 April 2012

We just went to see how fresh and exceptional food was suppose to be at Jamie's Oliver Pitt St Sydney on wayback from Tasmania.Setting and atmosphere and hype probably too much.Busy noisy atmosphere, hostess with an atttitude, service is prompt and fast as it is high turnover restaurant and not a leisruely one.Order is taken on a PDA system drinks are delivered with effiency and food the same way decor is very trendy London setting, food overall fresh and well presented but not outstanding, drink list is short and sweet and good.Service efficient but not overtly friendly our waitress had a very distinctive British and most of the staf fare young and probably want to be modela and actors waiting to discovered .I would certainly recommend to anyboby who wish to try this over hype Sydney restaurant. As I use to live in Sydney and know that most Sydney crowd are fickle customers as they wish to go the next trendiest and hippest restaurants in town will it endure? as the Melbourne who knows!!!!
