Lavana is a delightful small restaurant overlooking Walsh Bay on the wharf opposite the Roslyn Packer Theatre, and next door to Hicksons. It's one of the very few restaurants that have thrived in this spot. The tapas were various, reasonable size for under $20, and generally very well done - we had really good octopus and lamb. The beef was a little chewy and the mushrooms were good but maybe from a tin. The pasta mains were nicely al dente and seafood tasted fresh and well prepared. Service was very attentive, efficient and friendly. There was a fair range of white and red wines - $9 glass of white was good, red was basic. Overall a great pre-theatre experience.

Visited over Easter with family. Arrived about 1.30pm thinking that we would not have to wait too long. Not a lot of clientele in the restaurant at the time. 2pm before order was taken. At 3pm asked where our meal was, they said one minute. Well it was a very long minute. Food is very good. Not large portions and not a lot on the plate apart from what was ordered, (we should have got side orders), drinks a bit pricey. Good views.

Because of the early morning sun beating down on this harbour fronted Spanish cafe, we visited. Against recommendations of our conceirge. Moral of story listen to your concierge. Poached Eggs = rock hard. Toast = warmed bread. Hollondaise = curry powder flavour and Coffee ( 3rd attempt) = not drinkable. 1 child is feeling sick, we all have bad taste in mouth after less than accommodating effort to right the experience from the manager..."will speak to the chef". Wont be back. We found Bitter and Twisted just behind the Wharf and can highly recommend not only coffee but the willingness to serve.

Having wandered around The Rocks looking for a restaurant that would serve a seafood platter and this on Good Friday to no avail, we finally came upon Lavana situated on the waterfront around the bay.

What a wonderful place to relax, sit in the sun, enjoying the view, but even better with an amazing seafood platter.

Starting with pita and dips including olives, then the platter which had prawns scallops fish mussels oysters crab and more ....

All served with flair. The menu looks wonderful too.

Many thanks. We will be back again.

This small cafe restaurant tapas bar along the Walsh Bay wharves is a gem. With million-dollar views but a non-pretentious vibe, it surprised me with their very decently priced lunch specials and large serving sizes. We randomly chose this place for lunch and I thoroughly enjoyed the sirloin steak lunch special for $21. The staff here were also very attentive and fast (our table water was always quickly refilled) and knew how to roll with our typical weekend humour. Thank you Lavana.
