We booked Smugglers because we wanted high quality accommodation for one night. We travelled with a small child and four adults. The apartment was advertised as a 2 bedroom luxury apartment.

The location is perfect. Literally 30 steps to the beach, beautiful surrounds and far from the highway noise. The pool looked nice but in the dead of winter we didn't try it.

First, I wouldn't call it luxury. The quality was good but certainly not luxury. The blinds were different lengths, the bathroom ceiling was mouldy and the bar stools were very rusty. There were cob webs behind the TV and we found glass shards on the floor. The phone was mute when we tried to call reception. The advertised Wifi didn't work in the room. It worked if you went outside but not inside the room.

The receptionist did come to vacuum the floor but without apology. She blamed the cleaners. Not much comfort with a toddler picking up stuff off the floor to eat all the time.

The hot tub didn't have a plug for it. None of the plugs in the apartment fit so we couldn't use it. Reception closes at 5pm so nowhere to call.

The fridge was set too cold and in the morning everything in the fridge was frozen, including eggs. The light above the stove also didn't work.

The beds were comfortable enough and all towels and sheets were clean. There was a lot of noise from taps and showers in the next room which was annoying.

Location is definitely this place's biggest asset, which is why the three stars instead of two. Also the morning reception staff member Shannon was lovely and helpful. Don't expect luxury from this place, but a good, solid accommodation in a good spot.

Stayed here over a recent June weekend and found Smugglers to be a very nice place to stay. Its main attraction is the beach - a very short walk away, with extended walks available nearby also.

The accommodation itself is fairly modern, and would compare favourably to other motels/resorts in the area. Smugglers is out of town by approximately 10 minutes (5 minutes further out of town than the Big Banana) but this in itself is not a problem if you have transport. If you don't have transport, I'm not sure I would recommend the Smugglers as it is fairly remote in this sense.

Free WiFi was available, however it was patchy. We were in Apartment 10 (two bedroom unit) and our WiFi connection struggled. Sometimes, the WiFi network couldn't be found - and when we were connected - it wasn't a super strong signal.

I was in a room with two (separated) single beds. My main issue with the room was an apparent lack of power points. I could only find one "double" power point in my room, and that was metres away from my bed (opposite end of the room to where the bedhead was - my iPhone cable obviously doesn't stretch that far!). This is a pretty basic design flaw I'd have thought (unless I've missed something). The beds were okay, not amazing.

The bathroom (just one bathroom in our two bedroom apartment, not unexpected) was fine. Small, but fine. And why is the light switch outside of the bathroom? You could be in the shower of an evening, and someone could flick the lights off from outside the (lockable from inside) bathroom door. Odd?

The living area was comfortable - no issues there. Unfortunately the weather was not great when we stayed, so we couldn't check out the pool/BBQ areas.

Don't get me wrong - Smugglers was a very nice place to stay. Very comfortable with a convenient location and the Manager I dealt with was super friendly and helpful.

I feel with a few extra touches, Smugglers could move up closer to a 5-star property.

Room Tip: WiFi reception may be stronger near the reception area.

We stayed here 4 nights and loved every minute. The beach is close and I loved being able to hear the waves. A nice BBQ/Pool area, laundry and tennis court. We wanted a place that was quiet and relaxing and this exceeded expectations. All the comforts of home and even videos, games and books free to use. Free wifi was a nice touch too.

Very comfortable and great accommodation to stay if you want to be near Coffs Harbour. It is about a 10-minute drive from the main town centre off in a small suburb of Korora. It is around a 2-minute drive from the Pacific HWY and about 5 minutes away from the Big Banana.

The accommodation we stayed in was the 1 bedroom studio style. the room very spacious and had lots of amenities. They even included plenty of dishwashing detergent and laundry powder.

Settled just behind the beach that is literally 2 minutes walking distance away.

The host was very friendly and helpful, there is even a small yet good collection of DVDs and board games for the convenience.

Room Tip: We stayed in Room 9, right next to a tap and hose if you need to wash your car, good if you plan to do 4WD. close to the beach,

We spent a couple of nights here and could not fault it.
The apartments were nicely furnished and well equipped, the apartment was very clean. The bed was comfortable and it was great only being able to hear the ocean at night.
It's has a nice pool area and it is on the beach front.
The staff were friendly and very helpful with suggesting places to eat.
We will definitely being staying again.
