We stayed here for 7 nights. The place was a bit cramped, but we spent lots of time in the balcony which was fabulous.
The ad said it was "beach front". Not exactly. We could hear the sea, which is very very close.
There were a few things that needed repair, like the toaster, kitchen exhaust, shower head, fan. The fan was replaced straight away. Staff was very friendly and helpful.
But I still probably would not go back.

Room Tip: Right next to the sea, but you can't see the sea.

We stayed at Smugglers for 5 nights with 2 kids aged 3 and 2. We all had a great time. The unit was very clean and bright. It's located right across from the beach. You can't see the beach due to the gardens and trees BUT you can hear the waves which is great! It was only a 1 min walk to the beach which was amazing and the girls loved it. I also loved that the car spaces are right out the front of the units so no need to travel far when you have been shopping for groceries or have things to unload. The pool was clean and they had a little toddlers pool that my 2 year old loved. I really had a nice time and felt quite at home in the units. Would definately go back and recommend it to other family's.

Room Tip: We stayed in room 15 which I really liked as its ground level and I didn't have to worry about balcony's and kids falling. Also it opens up to the garden - so you can sit on the verandah while the kids run around. Also they have a hose right out the front which was great for hosing down kids after the beach! Oh and also there is a clothes line just to the left which was great to have so close too cause it was easy to hang and grab your clothes when dry.

We enjoyed our stay at Smugglers on the Beach. It's a really comfortable unit with everything that is needed for a relaxing holiday. The room was spacious, full kitchen and huge TV and comfortable beds. It's a great place to stay if you have kids, plenty of room for outdoor games and fun in the pool. Can't wait for our next holiday there.

In need of a stopover between Sydney and Brisbane I consulted Tripadvisor about an hour out of Coffs Harbour and took the easy option of going with the No. 1 rated hotel. Staff were superb, room was spacious and decorated in a mix of French provincial and modern furniture, and for the price ($150) you simply could not have asked for more.

(note: the night previous I had stayed in a shoebox atop a night club in Newcastle for $120)

Reading older reviews on the Smugglers, much seems to have been made of highly restrictive rules being plastered all over the place; this was not my experience. The written guide which came with the room requested you do simple things (such as wash up after yourself), and would in no way impact on the holiday of somebody who is not an absolute cretin.

The only thing I would improve upon would be reception operating hours, which with a 5pm closing time seem somewhat restricted (though based on my experience the staff are willing and able to go above and beyond the advertised times).

Do yourself a favour if you are in Coffs Harbour, you could do far, far worse.

Room Tip: Try for a room on the top level for less noise from the neighbours.

We stayed at Smugglers on the Beach in Korora after a long drive from Sydney. I travelled with my family of 2 adults and 2 teenage boys. What a lovely 2 bedroom apartment to rest overnight from our journey. Only criticism ... 1 night is not enough!! Would have loved to stay longer!! Beautiful grounds, lovely pool and bbq area. Great laundry too. Our apartment was spacious and clean, just beautiful! The beach was our back drop. Great place! We arrived late and a key was waiting for us so it was no hassle. It was well priced. Korora was a much nicer place to overnight than Coffs Harbour and only 5 minutes out of town.
