Just at the bottom of Black Mountain, turn left & left again & you are there. Take the kids, & the adults. The displays & information is astounding, a case of "I did not know that". Have afternoon tea while you are there. They do close around 4.

Definitely worth visiting, especially with kids & 2 hours easily disappears. The updated facilities are excellent.

The CSIRO Discovery is a great place to take the kids, and it's free, there are lots of hands on things to do, giant stick insects to hold, and a café as well.

Fun and cheap place to live and explore Australia's contribution to science. Many hands on discoveries

I liked the CSIRO Discovery Centre. It is a small museum, with a diverse collection of exhibits (some of which do require an update). I really enjoyed the display outlining some of the major discoveries by the CSIRO since it's beginnings- including some products that are in mass production & common use- Softly & Aeroguard for example.
If you have a couple of hours to fill and an enquiring mind, then head up for a visit. The teenagers were also engaged for a while!
The major difficulty with this place is the parking.... We were forced to park in an area marked staff only.
