“Good value apartment hotel”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 February 2012

We stayed 4 nights at the Capital Tower Canberra in a 2 bedroom apartment (we were upgraded from 1 bedroom!) on the 2nd floor. The decor is a little tired however we found it clean and comfortable. The rooms were cleaned every day, beds made, bins emptied, etc. The heated pool was welcome after the humid weather and there is a small gym and squash court if you need the exercise. The free under-cover car parking was a bonus. It's very good value compared to a hotel room and the location is great, very close to the City and close walking distance to the lake and National Museum. Not a lot of restaurants close by but we had a car so it wasn't a problem. We'd definitely stay there again.

Recently spent 3 nights at this hotel. The purpose of the trip was to visit the War Memorial and the AIS. Whilst the staff were very friendly, the rooms are in need of a good sproose up. They were clean but tired - broken toilet, broken electrical appliance plates etc. The hotel we thought was situated in a relatively good spot, and yes, it ended up only being a 15-20 min walk into town once you could work out which way to go, it's very confusing with all the roundabouts etc and the staff didn't give very good directions. Disappointing that there is just nowhere to go for food of a night in the area except into the CBD and then there really isn't much open after 9pm. The local taxi service was pretty prompt and reliable. I definitely felt that the cost of the room (even on a cheaper website) was high considering the condition of the room.

Room Tip: We had a 2 bedroom apartment but it only had 1 bath. Concerns that there was no other locking syste...

We stayed here for one night in a 3 bedroom apartment with lake views, the room faced west so had the hot afternoon sun and the airconditioner did not work. The apartment was clean but stripped bare of all paintings, and seemed half furnished.
My daughter left an expensive triathlon suit there which they claimed to of mailed to us 2 weeks ago but still no sign of.
Central location, big rooms but definitely in need of a face lift

As a retired airline pilot I have stayed in hundreds of rooms in the past 45 years. The maintenance condition of this apartment was one of the worst I have seen. In the en-suite bathroom, the towel rail fixture to the wall was broken, as was the soap dish and the shower height-adjustment bar. The towel rail in the main bathroom was also hanging off the wall as well as the telephone plug in the lounge room. There were no shelves or drawers in the en-suite dressing room and the refrigerator had a broken shelf which had been repaired with a cable-tie! Needless to say that it took just 3 bottles of beer to test the amateurish repair and crash to the ground. A list of these items was given to the hotel desk before departure.

We haven't been to Canberra for a while and thought that it would be lovely to have a couple of days there. We found this and was very good value for such a large apartment.
The apartment was spacious and very clean with a beautiful view over the capital. There was a modern flat screen television with a great variety of channels.
This is not a five star establishment and some of the furniture was a little tired however it was exactly what we wanted.

The supermarket / cafe across the road was brilliant and we had brekfast there twice. Everything was within walking distance. The Canberra Centre has all the essentials and is only 2 km's away
