Deerdale lodge exceeded my expectations. From first contact with Stu for booking to getting into jacuzzi for the first time, it was truly a fantastic and ‘battery re-charging’ weekend break. The way the lodge and it’s grounds has been constructed really makes you feel like you have your own castle. Rooms are spacious, bathroom is immaculate, the internal decor and the craftsmanship of the entire log cabin is outstanding.
Our plans for Saturday night was to visit a local pub for drinks and dinner. We soon changed our mind when we simply did not want to leave the log cabin, instead we got a local takeaway and returned to gazing into the roaring fire. Stu was very helpful and thoughtful to our break, he demonstrated the amenities while left us to enjoy our stay.
Overall - a fantastic experience and we simply cannot wait to return for another break. Next time we will stay longer!! Many thanks to Stuart and Linda for working hard at keeping Deerdale Lodge such a one-of-a-kind experience.
Location is fantastic and secluded for the ideal get away. The lodge is immaculate and equipped to meet every need, further enhanced by overwhelming personal touches to make your stay perfect. The owners Lynda and Stu leave you alone but are on hand and really can't do enough for you. We have only been home a day and are looking for our next get away and to be honest after hours of searching we cannot find anywhere that compares to this lodge in location, amenities and comfort.
We will definitely be returning to Deerdale lodge very soon. Karl & Susan
Lynda and Stu, thank you so much for letting us stay at your wonderful lodge. From the moment we arrived we were bowled over with the attention to detail - everything had been thought of.
We were met by Lynda who showed us round and explained all we needed to know; the hot tub was ready for us and the log fire was burning.
There was a lovely hamper of goodies including delicious home-made shortbread and Hotel Chocolat goodies, even some treats for the dog! Toiletries were also provided along with luxurious bathrobes and slippers. It was the little touches that made it even more special.
Our hosts also assisted us with information on the best places to visit and eat locally; supplying a folder of information but also giving us feedback during the welcome chat.
We ate at Caunton Beck and Bella Vita, both highly recommended. Go Ape is walkable from the lodge if you fancy a different experience - we tried the Segways out which were a lot of fun, especially for our teenage son.
There’s no phone signal but you only have to walk a short distance to pick one up if you really need it.
Sherwood Pines forest is adjacent to the lodge which is fantastic for walks and bike rides, and bikes are available to borrow by request. Lovely food at the cafe within the forest.
We couldn’t have asked for a more restful and cosy retreat - coupled with the perfect weather we were lucky enough to experience we certainly did not want to go back to reality!
