Ranjit & Nandita manage the property with skill and enthusiasm.

We visited Svasara Jungle Lodge after a few years and found it even better. The surroundings had more shrubs and trees,a new swimming pool had been added and a new - open from the sides- reception area had been created. The charming reception area scattered with books on wildlife providing an ideal location for the guests to intermingle in a friendly atmosphere and get to know each other. The books we saw were "Magical Biodiversity of India"by Dhritiman Mukherjee & Asad Rahmani and "Capturing Wildlife Moments in India"by Ashok Mahindra. These additions to the resort certainly made Svasara an even better lodge than when I visited last.We saw and interacted with many foreign guests in groups staying at the lodge, indicating that Svasara is now on the international map as well. Many locals we talked to stated that Svasara was the best lodge at Tadoba. Its easy reach from Kolara entry gate,a mere 300 meters- adds to its popularity.
We were driven on all our safaris by Raju Gangadar,an expert tracker. He reads the call of the Samber deer and the roar of the tigers very well and locates the tiger as if by magic. His skills came to the forefront on our last safari when with a combination of tracking skills and intuition we were one of the first to locate the famous Maya on Jamun Bori. What followed was a 30 minute ride -up front - driving backwards experience following Maya and enabling me to photograph the tigress with my fixed 300 mm lens. This required tremendous backward driving skills with sufficient distance from the walking tigress to enable me to photograph.Full credit goes to Raju and his guide Ram Prasad in locating Maya and understanding enough about camera distance thus enabling me to successfully photograph Maya.Raju takes his duties seriously and is ever ready to go wherever the guests want. For him locating a tiger is an art and he excels in it.We also saw Bajrang,a male tiger and the 18 months old cub of Maya.
The enthusiastic Ranjit Mandal and Nandita manage the property with enthusiasm and courtesy. We were repeat customers and were particularly touched that both together with some of the naturalists waited to receive us,notwithstanding that our flight from Mumbai was delayed and we arrived at the lodge very late at about 9:00 pm. A warm welcome and full dinner awaited us at a fully lit fireplace, even though Ranjit and Nandita had had a complete day managing other guests. As a regular wildlife traveller we have stayed at resorts were you often do not even get to see the managers at all and nothing can be more disconcerting. But Svasara is very different - because Ranjit and Nandita mix easily with all guests and create a positive vibration for an excellent safari and stay experience.Well done!

Dear Guest,

Thank you so much for taking the time to leave us and for the travel community planning a visit to Tadoba such detailed feedback about our property.

It is encouraging to receive positive feedback from especially repeat guests like yourself, as it is testimony to all the hard work our team puts together to ensure all our guests have a memorable wildlife holiday with us.

It is indeed a great feeling to see our camp get greener by the day! Thank you for noticing...We surely have come a long way from adopting a barren piece of land which has slowly evolved into a mini Tadoba forest almost!

Our team is really happy to receive your kind appreciation, especially Raju, as rightly said, he really strives to ensure, his guests have the best possible experience in the jungle!

See you again soon.

Sincere regards,
For Svasara-Tadoba:

My husband and I wished to go some place different for our second anniversary Holiday. While looking for places, my husband came across Svasara. We loved the resort and hence booked our stay here for our 2nd wedding anniversary. The jungle Safari was an added activity. And we did not regret it.

We stayed from the 4th Dec 2016, to 7th Dec 2016. All the arrangements made at the resort were top of the class. And the icing on the cake was the warm and polite staff. Right from the time we entered, the welcome drink made us feel fresh again after the long travel. Ranjit, the GM welcoming us on arrival was another pleasant experience.

The food served was the one of the most delicious meals we have had.

And the fact that we were lucky to spot Maya and her cub so close by on the first and the only Safari we opted for made the trip worth it completely.

The resort's gesture of specially making a cake for our anniversary was very touching and we really would like to thank them again for it.

The nature walk with Swarna (Naturalist) was an equally delightful experience. The conversation with him over coffee were thoroughly enjoyed by us. It is always a pleasure to meet someone like him with so much passion and knowledge about what he does.

Likewise Prasun (Naturalist), and the resort staff- Mukesh, Yuvraj, the Chef, and everyone else who were at our service and we couldn't ask their names were a treat to be with.

Nandita and Ranjit are doing a great job at the resort building relationships with guests, which very few people do. Being from the training industry myself, I must say that this level of service must be aimed by everyone.

We would like to thank Svasara Jungle Lodge once again for making our anniversary Holiday so special.

This is undoubtedly a very lovely, tranquil Lodge to stay at. As most of the other reviews indicate this is a place where the staff excel, and we were made to feel very welcome right from the start. The staff also have a very good sense of humor.
The service is superb and nothing is too much trouble for them.
Wi-Fi is available in the reception area if you need to contact anyone.
The guides are superb and very knowledgeable of nature in general, not just tigers.
We learnt a lot from them and enjoyed learning their field craft.
Everywhere was very clean and the rooms were very comfortable.
The pool area was clean and pleasant also.
Food......well we thought it was OK but this is subjective to personal taste, and we have to consider where we are and the logistics involved, but we did feel that it could be a bit more imaginative. This is the only thing that is stopping us giving 5 stars.
The Lodge is very convenient for the Park taking only 2 or 3 minutes to get to there.
We were lucky and saw tiger every day that we were in the park. In fact we saw more tigers, in ratio, than we did safari rides. Be prepared for disappointment though, as one couple did three more safaris than us and they didn`t see any tigers. No matter how good your guides are you still need to have some good luck on your side.
We went not expecting to see any tigers as I had read so many disappointing stories, but there is so much more to see. The thrill of trying to find a tiger is part of the challenge. If we want guaranteed sightings then perhaps we should go to the zoo.
Finally by way of tips for other travelers I recommend that in November you take a neck scarf with you to put over your mouth and nose. It is very, very dusty......red dust that gets everywhere so protect your cameras also.
Make sure that you have warm clothing for the morning drive as it gets very cold. Even hats and gloves is a good idea.

Thank you for your hospitality and charm, to all the staff, as we had a great time with you all. We highly recommend the Svasara Lodge.

Svasara is situated right next to the Kolara gate for Tadoba NP, so it's really handy for the safari drives. The guides were excellent and we had some really excellent tiger sightings. The lodge has a very relaxed feel and the staff and food were excellent.
Although not a criticism of the hotel, we were not told by our travel agent that the camp is "dry" (as it is in Chandrapur District) and after spending over a week in Gujarat (also "dry") we had to wait for a further 4 nights to satisify our thirst with a Kingfisher!

Room tip: Room 109 is really quiet - it has an outside wall on one side and the adjoining room is used as a store, so we had no noisy neighbours!

I had an opportunity to stay at the Svasara Jungle Lodge during my visit to the Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve. Svasara is very conveniently located just opposite the Kolara Gate, so one saves a lot on the travel time before & after the Safari. The resort itself is spread over a large area but has just 12 rooms so that they can cater to the Guests properly rather than having many rooms & providing poor service. At the entrance is a very spacious & beautifully done lobby cum reception which connects to the restaurant too. The lobby is the place where they serve tea & coffee early in the morning while you wait for your Safari Vehicle to arrive. The Lobby is open on two sides & gives you a pleasant view of the fruit orchard & the vegetable garden situated inside the resort. The rooms which are just a few yards walk from the reception are very spacious with a personal verandah & a small garden. They are very well maintained & are kept cleaned by a very diligent House Keeping Staff. The bed was very comfortable and the linen provided was comfortable & clean. The washroom was spacious as well was stocked with nice toiletries & clean bath linen. The room was provided with a mini bar which really came in handy. A tea & coffee maker was in the room too with some refreshments which were at no charge basis & the House Keeping Staff kept it well stocked. We got a Wake Up call at our desired time in the morning & the Safari Vehicle was well stocked up with the Breakfast including Tea, Coffee & Juice as well. They also provided us with a couple of Safari Blankets as the Weather was quite cold. As soon as one gets back from the Safari, they provide them with a refreshing cold towel & an even more refreshing lime juice. Lunch was served at least two hours before the afternoon safari, so one can enjoy a small nap or even rest right after the lunch & before the Safari. As soon as one is back from the evening safari, they provide lime juice, tea, coffee and snacks and at seven thirty they serve you early dinner so that you can actually retire for the day quite early in the evening. The dinner is served at one of their outdoor restaurant which they call the Teak House where in the evening you can enjoy a Wildlife Documentary or Show. They light up a fire there at the outdoor sitting area & one can enjoy & share lovely stories, experiences & observations of other guest and the in house naturalists. The food provided at all the meals was excellent & the Chef takes good care of all the Palate needs. The staff at the resort was very friendly & courteous. They were very prompt & did their best to keep the guests happy. Ranjit Mandal Sir who takes care of the resort with his wife Nandita Mandal Mam is a well informed person & is very friendly & anyone will strike a bond with him immediately. The naturalists at the resort are well trained & cater to the needs of the guests diligently. I had an amazing bonding with them from day one itself. Overall it was wonderful staying at the Svasara Jungle Lodge & I can say this without any doubts that if in Tadoba I will be definitely putting up at the Svasara Jungle Lodge to enjoy among many other things the Luxury of a Five Star property in a Jungle.

Staff were all very friendly. Food was good and was from different Indian regions each night. Breakfasts were a packed lunch that were eaten while out on the morning game drive, though one day we were interrupted by a tiger walking passed. Rooms were clean and very well presented and have flasks of drinking water in the room.
