Really lives up to its "placid" name!

First of all, tone down all expectations of Bantayan Island. It's an island ~3hrs drive from Cebu City, and it was just ravaged by supertyphoon Haiyan in 2013. It is no Boracay and the lack of the party atmosphere and "urban-ness" is what makes it charming.

Accomodations are basic. We stayed in hut #7 which had 2 double beds with foam mattresses and a basic bathroom of which the sink faucet wasn't working. Water pressure is decent and there was a water heater so that was ok. The bathroom had no exhaust fan, but there are 2 windows (1 in shower area and 1 in toilet area) for natural ventilation. The room had enough furniture and space to hold 2 large roll-type luggages and several carry ons. Watch out for intermittent blackouts. We stayed for 2 nights and experienced 3 blackouts total, but they didn't last for more than 10 minutes.

Service is friendly. Even the resident beach dog, Shadow, is friendly! Food is decent, and they can cook food that you bought from the local market (palengke) for a fee.

The beach is a fantastic stretch of white sand!!! We were worried at first that the beach would be dirty because it was so near to the port (you can see the resort from the port), but we were so wrong! Water was clean and the sand is fine white. Not powdery white like Boracay, but still white. At night, it gets really REALLY windy and cool, so pack a windbreaker. There are lounging chairs and benches at the beachfront -- nice for hanging out.

There is free wifi in the restaurant area. Not the fastest connection, but at least they have wifi! People are supposed to be out communing with nature anyway, so forget the wifi and hit the beach! Will definitely return here!!

Room Tip: There are several beachfront rooms, but the local who booked us here recommended that we NOT stay...

4 stars for the great stay! 1 star for improvements. (Ex. Coordinating with local motorbike and bicycle rentals; it would be nice if it's ready when requested and wouldn't really let us wait for hours before we can rent one and pay for a 24 hour rental. A 12 hour rental option for the motorbikes would be great as well)
An aircon van to pick up the guests from the wharf area would be nice 😉

    - it is the most terrible sound if you want to relax or sleep. Do not choose a room in front of the desk.

They take care of the garden, but the room is not beeing cleaned in four days.

If rooms are available online do not book- direct booking is better. You can deal an discount.

I sincerely apologize for the karaoke noise. We had a reunion celebration with my long lost brother but we limited the songs until 9-10pm so people can rest at night. That was a one time event. As far as the cleaning of the rooms, we usually wait for the guests to ask us if they want their rooms cleaned or changed bedding. Most guests wants their privacy and don't want us to enter the room without permission. I wish you could have informed housekeeping or front desk that you want your room cleaned daily instead of waiting until you checked out to complain.

The long travel is so tiring. The resort is good but not as good as I expected. The internet connection is so slow. They should install another one near the beach front to accommodate guest. In terms of staff services its okay. The food is so ordinary that you can also saw it from other resort. Security wise, its perfect. They provided guards.

Beach Placid Resort is probably the best resort with the best beach front I've ever visited in the area. This was just a sojourn for me. Such a sweet escape in this hidden paradise. Staff makes me feel home away from home. Special mention to Ms. Jo the owner which I haven't met yet but I talked to her through phone and she been so kind to give me discount as I'm travelling Solo, to Jessa who serves food to me during breakfast and lunch, the attentive and cheerful receptionists Michelle and Grace and of course to my Tour Guide "Yolly" for all the help they've given me. You made my stay so so so awesome! I'm working in a hotel as well and I will recommend this place to our guests. You have a lot of things to do in the island, You can arrange tours it could be island hopping (YOU MUST VISIT VIRGIN ISLAND OMG!) or land hopping as well as massage would like to thank Gladys as well the therapist. Thank you so much and keep up the good work. Hats off to the whole team! Kudos! Hope to see you again guys! ♥ KimT.

Room tip: Native cottage at Beach Front is perfect!♥♥

Or so says the staff's shirts. =)

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Beach Placid resort. It was everything I wanted it to be.

I can't say enough great things about the staff. When I had to go to the hospital for what turned out to be a lung infection, a girl from the front desk and a driver came with me so that there could be no misunderstanding. And the following day, another driver took me all the way to Bantayan town and back, just so I could get my hands on the antibiotic required to treat the infection. Everyone, from the drivers, the front desk girls, the waiting staff at the restaurant, and the maids, is nice and friendly. The waiters and waitresses, especially, were always fun and talkative. Even better, they're never pushy, trying to get you to rent a motorbike or book a tour to another island. The vibe is cool and relaxed, just as the name implies. This resort truly has a good group of people making sure that travelers enjoy their stay on the island.

The grounds are well-tended and the entire resort looks great. Walking around Santa Fe and along the beach, you can see signs of destruction brought by last year's typhoon everywhere you go and many resorts are in the process of being rebuilt. Not so at Beach Placid resort, where everything appears in order.

They have a nice stretch of beach with a number of long chairs available. Seaweeds are raked away every afternoon, so the beach remains clean every day.

I booked the lovely seaview cottage 17, which was just perfect. Spacious enough for a solo traveler, with a clean bathroom and an aircon that worked well, I couldn't have asked for more. From my balcony, I was about 50 feet from the beach itself.

Being a bit outside of the town proper, I was concerned about being forced to eat at the restaurant more often than not. But to my surprise, every meal was excellent. The food is tasty, the portions generous, and the prices quite affordable. So much so that I ended up eating all of my meals there. Save a few bites for Shadow, a friendly dog that hangs out around the resort. If you do, she'll be your friend for the rest of your stay!

If I ever return to Bantayan Island (which is a possibility, as that lung infection prevented me from making the most of my trip), I wouldn't consider staying anywhere else!

    Highly recommended. . . =)
