We visited this complex on a chilly day. We had a Bongo bon. There is no need to take a reservation as the complex is quite big. We stayed for around 6 hours and managed to try the Finnish, the Thai, the Japanese and the Arabian sauna. The experience in these four is quite similar in our opinion. We liked the Japanese one as it really invites you to lay down. We followed a 'aufguss' in the Thai sauna. We were in the end of the line so we needed to squeeze in. Come well in time if you like a specific spot (especially the lower places). The line already started forming more than 10 minutes before the session.
We also ate at the facility and the meal (spaghetti) was decent. As in all saunas drinks are quite expensive. I hope one day sauna complexes come up with a water forfait. One day. The end of the session was challenging. You get a slice of orange half way. But no drink (water/tea) in the end as is common in most saunas.
We were affraid there wouldn't be enough relaxing space indoors as it is limited but at no time we didn't find a spot. So they cleverly calculated this.
The crowd was mixed, of all ages and couples and singles. We never felt uncomfortable.
The outdoor pool has a nice temperature, also on colder days. Which was nice. We will probably return. Overall good experience.

Our first impression was not that great. A lot of parked cars (a lot) and no more available parking space on the grounds. Luckily, there was space in the street. We arrived in the late afternoon on a Sunday. A popular moment. After 6 pm, the crowd thinned out rather quickly.
The crowd was quickly forgotten once inside. It's a big complex with a lot of different saunas. My favourite is the Finish sauna, but that is, ofcourse, personal. And the heated outdoor swimming pool. It was chilly, it rained, but that made it only better. O, one of the better steam baths I've been to so far.
Saunas and wheelchairs aren't best friends. The wheelchair can't stay inside, so somebody else has to take it outside, for a start, but most of the saunas are reasonably accessible. Apart from the Thai sauna, where you have to cross a small stream with stepping stones. Not great on crutches either, that one.
The sauna part is completely on ground level, apart from one small step to go outside. All in all, fairly accessible as far as the saunas go.

Thank you for this wonderful appraisal. It's great to hear you liked your first visit to Katara so much.

On busier days, like weekends or holidays, we receive a lot of visitors. Even then you will find a calm and relaxing atmosphere as soon as you enter the premises. Our different facilities are spread all over our garden which is one of the biggest saunagardens in Belgium.

We offer several sauna- and waterfacilities at different temperatures so that everyone can enjoy the uttermost, as preferenced. Thank you for the compiment on our steambath. That is also the place where we offer you our famous scrubsessions, so you can feel reborn with a sliky skin.

Most of the facilities is easily accessable with wheelchairs. We have several clients in wheelchairs or crutches, who enjoy the wellbeing of Katara regularely. We hope to see you back soon for another peaceful saunaday :-)

My girlfriend took's me for my birthday to this place.
I never heard about Thermen Katara before.
First we eated a really nice looking and tasting breakfast for a decent price.
After a good filling breakfast, we chilled out in the swimming pool, the temperature was perfect. After that we discovered the full place. Everything was really clean and tidy. The saunas were perfect like they used to be. We did a couple of different saunas to relax.
Than we heard from someone there is a free scrub-session.
Except waiting in line for a free-ticket, was everything fine.
The scrub session was really relaxing and educational.
After the 25 minutes during scrub-session, my girlfriend and I wanted to lay down in the garden for taking a rest.
But then there was a problem. ALL the sun loungers were occupied, but not with people, but with towels!! Lets say 25% with people and 75% with towels.
After 15min searching and waiting for a free place , we gets desperate and a little but frustrated to.
So we decided to take someone's towel away to make place. (With not a nice feeling ofcourse.)
But except that, we got a really great time together in Thermen Katara.
The staff was really kindly to us and we came home with a relaxed mind and body.

Thanks for visiting Katara and awarding us your review.

Though you had a great time, came home with a relaxed mind and body and widely appreciated qualtiy of our food, the perfect state of our facilities, the spotless cleanliness, the much appreciated scrub sessions and the wellknown friendlyness of our staff, all this is hardly reflected in your average score.

Our sungarden is largely appreciated by our guests. On busier and sunny days (you visited us during a special holiday week) many sunseats can be taken. Our staff monitors that seats are not kept reserved too long. If so, they will remove the towels.

Please keep in mind that during e.g. an aufguss lots of people are gone for half an hour. During such a short lapse of time we will not remove towels since no one would appreciate if ones towel would be gone after a short sauna session.

Anyhow, we are glad you discovered and liked us so much and hope to see you soon again for a great time at Katara ;-)

Thank you for this great review and recommandation.

Our chefs love to surprise you every month with new suggestions. Almost everything is freshly prepared by our own cooks with the best ingredients bought from reliable and professional suppliers.

Last year we openend an extra restroom including a reading corner with fireplace and an extra silent room to rest and sleep. As you may have noticed this facility can be found in the garden like many other of our facilities. In the meantime we have received lots of compliments on this new restrooms.

It is our purpose to provide you with a great holiday experience. In these stressy times, it is important to sometimes stop the click and enjoy a moment of relaxation for your body, soul and health.

We look forward to receiving you again for another holiday @ Katara !
